It’s been another week with my fancy camera close to hand. Ironically, I did not bring the camera with my to my mom’s house on Thursday night, thereby missing a prime opportunity to capture an image of a baby cardinal, and I’m kicking myself a bit for that. But what can you do? I’ve had plenty of camera fodder close to home lately, so I really can’t complain.
It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples.
My scrappy granny Highlander Blanket is coming along. I threw it in the back seat of the aforementioned Highlander this weekend to see if it’s wide enough yet to cover two people, and I think it could use a few more rows. Loving the colors, though! 💗🧶💙⭐Those peonies I purchased from Trader Joe’s last week have refused to open on their own. This morning, I submerged them all head first in water to loosen them up, and then I kinda pried them open. That’s better than completely closed, I guess? Let’s see if they can go the rest of the way on their own.
Sunday
Celebrated Father’s Day with family, including these guys ❤
Monday
Peony update: I’m convinced now that they will never open on their own. Every morning I’ve just pried them open a bit more. I think this is as open as they’re going to get. At least they are prettier now. But wow, have they ever been high maintenance, LOL!Mama and baby deer chewing on a fallen branch in our back yard. She must have brought her adorable babies with her so that I’d be more forgiving about the fact that she decimated my daylilies. It might be working, dang it.
Tuesday
In some ways I think the lady cardinals are even prettier than their flashy male counterparts ❤️
In case you missed it on the blog earlier this week, I made scones and I shared the recipe 😋
So I took a break from work to throw together some flour and yeast. And while this isn’t going to save the world from its many ills, at least I’ll have a nice loaf of bread to rip apart with my bare hands and devour like a carb-crazed animal in a few hours.
And that’s not nothing.
Rage baking update: The act of making this bread did indeed improve my mood a bit. And while I didn’t tear into it like an animal (quite the opposite: I cut it open and weighed a chunk out so I could accurately add it to my MyFitnessPal food diary 😆) it was a nice treat. And I’ll continue to enjoy it for lunch tomorrow and beyond.
Thanks for helping me celebrate the week! If you want to see some of this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram ♥
TWiP: There's Always My Birthday (2020) If you look at the previous TWiP entries for this week you will find Ocean City, peonies, and my birthday in most of them. This year for Week 21, I guess I have to settle for one out of three.
TWiP: Beaches and Birthdays (2015) This was a good week. Two of my favorite things about May happened this week: our Ocean City trip, and my birthday.
Just the right amount of fanfare (2013) Of cherry cupcakes, birthday bunting, and taking my celebratory wants into my own hands. (aka, I am happier when I don't expect the men in my life to be mind readers.)
Tradition (2012) Was it cruel of me to dangle that Sheet Swap carrot in front of your nose like that, and then
