I have been working with polymer clay since Christmas 1995, when my husband made the mistake of buying me an innocent little book and kit. Before he knew it, polymer had taken over the house!
Polka Dot Cottage polymer clay creations are bright and colorful! I like to make pieces I would use myself. From cheery dangly earrings, to smooth and beautiful crochet hook handles, it’s all made by hand in my smoke-free pet-free work space. (I may, from time to time, offer non-polymer work, too, such as cotton fabric face coverings, or cotton crocheted mandalas.)
Polymer clay is strong and durable. I have built up a large library of signature polymer clay patterns and colors that I use in each piece. I cure the pieces until they are hard, and then vigorously wet sand them through several grits of sandpaper. This is to make them super smooth and pleasant to touch. I then buff the pieces on a buffing wheel until they shine. I use no sealers or paints. The color is present in the polymer clay itself, and the shine is due to all of that sanding and buffing.
Each Polka Dot Cottage handmade item is unique and may differ in pattern placement from the shown samples.
