Guys, I saw Guster on Tuesday!
And I saw them from the fourth row 🤩
I mentioned in my previous post that I had gotten tickets, and I was disappointed that I hadn’t acted earlier so I could get closer than the 26th row. Because of that, I was checking the ticket site every couple of days, just to see if anything closer opened up. Then Monday, the day before the concert, there were suddenly a bunch of seats in the fourth row available. Wow!
I had already paid for one ticket, so I dithered for roughly 3 minutes, my frugal side trying to deny my music-loving side its fun. I gotta say, in these kinds of internal arguments, frugality doesn’t usually stand much of a chance, especially if there’s some money in the adventure fund. This was no exception. I grabbed that ticket. And in the end, I was able to sell my original ticket to a friend of a friend, so it was definitely the right decision.
My thanks go out to the mysterious party of ten who gave up their fourth row seats. I am so happy to have snagged one of them for myself! Funny thing, since it was just the day before the concert, nobody else bought the other tickets. It was me in the aisle seat, wearing a mask, next to nine empty seats in an otherwise full theater – it looked like I had cooties or something, LOL!
Anyway, here are some pictures from my vantage point:
The concert was fantastic. They traced their career chronologically, with funny skits and music. I had a blast. They played some of my favorite songs, including “Gangway.” That song is the opener and the title inspiration for my Spring 2015 playlist, The Clouds, The Land, The Sea. I had been watching setlist.fm to see what songs they were playing on previous stops, and they never played that one until New Jersey. I feel seen, LOL!
Speaking of the setlist, here’s what the night looked like:
Naturally, I made a Spotify playlist with all of those songs on it, minus the ones that aren’t available (yet):
Prior to the show, I had time to kill. So, I walked around to the side of the theater, and I saw one of the band members (Ryan Miller) by their tour bus. I smiled and nodded, but I wish I had been bold enough to go up and ask him to sign the Easy Wonderful CD I’d brought with me.
I went to this concert alone. And while I would have preferred to have someone to share it with, it wasn’t really that bad to be by myself.
Still, I feel like I need a gutsy friend to come with me next time I go to a concert. It would be so exciting to have a short chat or a selfie, but I lack the nerve to (1) hang around and wait for them after the show, and (2) actually talk to them, LOL! An extrovert friend would just grab me by the arm and say “let’s go do it.”
I am pretty sure, sitting so close, I made some eye contact with one of the band members (Adam Gardner, [fellow New Jerseyan, woohoo!]) a few times during the show. That didn’t require any extroversion on my part whatsoever, so that was nice, LOL!
I’ve been into Guster since I first heard them in 1998, but this was my first time seeing them live. Pretty sure it won’t be my last 😀
After I saw Crowded House in concert last year, and it was one of the best experiences ever, I decided that I needed more live…
A perfect night. Glad you had a fun time. 👍🏼😁
Thanks, it really was such a nice night 🥰
