This Week in Pictures, Week 29, 2022

Buckle up, my friends, I have a lot of pictures and videos to share today 🙂

I know myself well enough to realize that if both of my kids are off on grand adventures, I am likely to feel a tiny bit jealous and wish I was on an adventure of my own. That’s why, when it became clear that Neil and I were going to be alone for two weeks in July, I sweet talked him into booking an Airbnb for ourselves for some of that time. I knew I would be kind of desperate for my own change of scenery.

So, this was that week! We rented a historic one-room schoolhouse in Montague, NJ for five nights. We couldn’t take the time off from work, but that was ok, because Neil works for himself, and my job is flexible enough that I could really put in my eight hours from anywhere. It was a good choice. We were there from Sunday to Friday, so all of this week’s pictures, with the exception of some Saturday backyard visitors, are from the trip.

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples.

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).

Saturday

Back yard visitors! We had three adults and six babies,

Sunday

When you work from home, you can work from anywhere, so why not take a little working vacation for a couple of days? 😁 We’re in this former one room schoolhouse. I love the little kitchen

Monday

I cut some wildflowers from around the perimeter of the yard of our rental yesterday. Today I added some Queen Anne’s lace, and a little purple something or other, and the single day lily bloom has been replaced by two new ones. I suspect this little bouquet will continue to evolve while we’re here. It kind of makes up for the deer eating most of my flowers at home 😁

Tuesday

The screened in porch on this house might be my favorite part. I’ve had my breakfast out here every morning, and I worked out here this afternoon, too, when there was enough of a breeze to make up for the 90F temperatures. Best part: being outside and not being bothered by bugs!

Right across the bridge from our Airbnb is Milton Beach, on the shore of the Delaware River in PA. I waded in after work and cooled off my feet. The cold water was so nice on a day like today.

Story for Tuesday

Wednesday

Buttermilk Falls is an impressively tall waterfall, and we climbed to the top where we met this frog. It was a beautiful place, so wild.

Thursday

This place we are staying at has a rainbow of mugs. Today feels like yellow 💛

Another field trip, this time to High Point, which is, appropriately, the highest point in New Jersey. (📷 of me by taken by Neil)

Friday

We left for home on Friday. If you’ve got three minutes, here’s a highlight reel from our trip, set to music (“Tea for Two Cha Cha”) from an old record we found at the house.

Thanks for helping me celebrate the week! If you want to see some of this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram ♥
