TWiP: Summer Greenery

This Week in Pictures, Week 29, 2021

Everything is so lush and green in my neighborhood right now 💚💚💚

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples. It’s more laid back than the Project 365s of previous years. You can learn more here 🙂

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).

TWiP Clips

Here’s a very short video, featuring 1.5-second moments from the week: playing a new game with Mom (A Little Wordy, she won almost every round 😁), a rainbow, a good book (Everybody Writes by Ann Handley), a Long Hill Township Library temporary tattoo, a very buggy but enjoyable twilight hike with my sister at the Great Swamp Watershed Association‘s Conservation Management Area.

Saturday

During a stormy drive home, after an afternoon hanging out with my mother, I pulled over to capture a rainbow. It stuck around just long enough for me to take a picture and a one-second video, and then it was gone.

Monday

The berry brambles are still giving up a few goodies, though both the season and my enthusiasm for picking are waning.

Wednesday

Reorganizing my desk, yet again. This time I’ve ditched the old mousepad and gotten a nifty whole desk pad in a favorite color. I really like it.

Thursday

When the local library gives you a temporary tattoo, what are you going to do? NOT wear it? I didn’t think so.

I had a cool marketing idea that involved all of my green color schemes, and I took a bunch of pictures for it, but now I don’t really feel like following through on my idea. At least I got a collection of pretty pictures out of it 😁
Here comes the first tiger Lily of the season. What a big show off 😜🧡
Snack time! Dry roasted peanuts and sea salt dark chocolate. Not pictured: a cup of hot coffee out of frame to the right, and my Thursday afternoon mojo which I haven’t seen for at least a week 👀

Friday

My sister and I visited this place for the first time tonight. It was an entertaining and informative walk in the woods, and over the water that runs into the Passaic River, but I’m sorry to say we wimped out and left before it was half over. It was mostly my fault. The mosquitos find me irresistible. And so, despite being covered up from head to toe, and reeking of bug repellant, the little stinkers found ways to get to me. By the time I was able to count six bites on my face and fingers, I was done. I hope to go back again sometime when it’s colder and the mosquitoes have given up for the season 😬
Here I am looking in the water and contemplating such thoughts as “I’m learning interesting things from this talk” and “this is such a beautiful spot” and (most importantly) “how much longer I can stay on this hike before I become one big walking mosquito bite?” 😁

Thanks for helping me celebrate the week! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram ♥
