TWiP: Winter Weather

This Week in Pictures, 2018 Week 2

We went from 7F degrees at the beginning of the week to 64F degrees at the end! It’s crazy time. (And as I type, the temperature is taking another downward dive.) There was snow, and freezing rain, and just plain rain in there, too. This week’s photos are about the weather, but also about how I spend my time when I’m avoiding that weather.

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the microblogging I’ve done on Instagram all week. This includes photos I shot for Project 365 (the theme for 2018 is mornings: #myyearofmornings2018) and any other extra images I may have posted.

πŸ“· = taken with my Canon EOS 80 D

πŸ“± = taken with my Samsung Galaxy S7

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

365 πŸ“·: #myyearofmornings Jan 6 – Cold outside, toasty inside. Coffee brewing β˜•

Instagram πŸ“±: Why is it that the most versatile wardrobe staples are also the most boring to knit? I’m improvising this dark brown top down raglan pullover. I envision that I will wear it constantly. I just have trouble envisioning myself completing it any time soon 😜. Just two sleeves and 8 more inches of body to go…

365 πŸ“·: #myyearofmornings Jan 7 – it doesn’t feel like 7Β°F out here. It’s actually kind of nice!

Instagram πŸ“±: One’s playing #legendofzelda, the other two are watching, and I’m working on my new sweater. This family room togetherness doesn’t happen as much as it used to. Maybe I’ll knit the last few inches on the body, or maybe I’ll just snuggle down into this spot and take a contented nap 😊

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Jan 8 – Hello, Monday. Time to fuel up. β˜• [Taken at work.]

Instagram πŸ“±: So @heatheryarn asked me #widn… I’m working from home this afternoon, since we were sent home in anticipation of bad weather. I’m sitting on the couch with my laptop and now-empty coffee cup, directly under #tackysanta, whose red glow I am still enjoying even though it’s January πŸŽ…

365 πŸ“·: #myyearofmornings Jan 9 – I hear it’s expected to be 39Β°F here today. After the frigid temperatures we’ve been having lately, it’s going to feel like summer!

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Jan 10 – A quick stop before work to grab some delicious @obagel_family bagels for the team. Today marks one year that I’ve been working for the company I’m working for, so why not celebrate? 😊 [Taken in the O Bagel parking lot.]

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Jan 11 – Out the hallway window of my office building, everything is starting to melt. It’s a much more reasonable temperature out there than it has been 😊 [Taken at work.]

Instagram πŸ“·: My sister, sister-in-law, and I have started a new photo project! We’re challenging ourselves with a weekly theme and posting the results over at @threeonatheme. I hope you’ll follow us there, and if you want to, you can play along with the theme, too 😊. This week, it is “warm beverages.” I chose that theme because I had an inspiration photo in mind, and it involved a steaming mug in a dark room backlit by sun streaming in though a single window. It was beautiful, though as you can see, in the end the inspiration sent me in a totally different direction 😁

365 πŸ“·: #myyearofmornings Jan 12 – There’s something really nice about moody morning light on a rainy day.

Instagram πŸ“±: Somebody in this office building got all artsy. [Taken at work.]

Instagram πŸ“±: Delicious chicken tacos and great atmosphere for my Friday night πŸ‡²πŸ‡½πŸŒ―πŸ˜‹ [Taken at Casa Maya in Meyersville, NJ.]

Instagram πŸ“±: I feel like I am over sharing today, but I am so excited that my yarn arrived! I’m actually making myself a pink sweater… Can you believe it? This green girl is going pink πŸ’šπŸ’Ÿ (well, not entirely… Those two colors on the left are actually shades of olive green, LOL!). Anyone else joining in the #knitlovewoolkal for the #vintersolsweater? My current brown raglan pullover project is 1.5 sleeves away from completion, but it will have to wait 😁

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram β™₯

  1. Unsubscribing because of the use of the word (schizophrenic) to describe the weather. Schizophrenia is a mental health term. Offensive to those ill in this way and their families/carers.
    Thank you.

    1. I wish that you would not use the term “schizophrenic” in any way other than as the medical term for a very serious and often fatal brain disorder. My son lived with this disease and took his own life as a result of it. Lisa, I am certain that you intended no harm or offense in using the term as you have. Mental health advocates such as myself believe that we have an obligation to sufferers and their familiesto educate people about mental health issues.

      1. You are correct. I indeed meant no harm, and I have removed the word entirely from the post. Thank you for educating me on this. I am sincerely sorry for your terrible loss.

    2. I am sorry. I was unaware, and I have changed the post.

  2. Great pictures! Your sweater looks fun. My mouth always waters for a cup of coffee after I read your post. I think I will just go get a cup as I look outside at the beautiful SNOW!!!! YES we finally got 3 inches yesterday. Love, love it

    1. Oh, I’m so glad to hear you got the snow you wanted! Ours completely melted away on Friday, but I’m sure there will be more.
