What I do on Saturday

I blinked and three months went by with nary a peep from me. Who could have imagined that freeing myself from the shackles of weekly publishing would result in so much silence? I honestly thought all of that lack-of-structure would lead to more writing. Silly me.

Well, I’m here now. I’d love to give you a detailed update, but I find the idea overwhelming. So let’s just skip all of that, shall we? Suffice it to say I did stuff recently. Some of it was interesting, some of it was not. (I imagine the last three months have been like that for you, too.) I’m just going to jump in here and pretend there is no awkwardly yawning chasm between the Owligan post and this one. Sound like a good plan?

Ok, so, I made a playlist a few weeks ago, and I called it What I do on Saturday.

What I do on Saturday

I named this playlist after the first track, a catchy Steve Burns number. If you had little kids in the early 2000s, you know who Steve Burns is (and you really need to watch this Colbert clip from last year. I’m not crying, you’re crying!). “What I do on Saturday” is not a new song, but I recently rediscovered this album, and remembered how much I had liked it.

I’m still not quite sure what Steve does on Saturdays, but as for me? I often find a cozy spot to sip coffee and do something crafty, so this image from last May really fit the vibe I wanted for my playlist.

Fun fact: I’ve been realizing over the last few weeks of listening to this that Steve Burns and Glen Phillips remind me of each other. I have no idea why. One hosted Blue’s Clues, and one is the lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket. But in my mind they mix and mingle when I listen to their songs. It’s odd, and I can’t explain it, and I do definitely know the difference between them, but they just remind me of each other.

Glen’s been making music pretty constantly since the late 1980’s and has just released a new album recently. But Spotify doesn’t have anything from Steve other than that one album from 2003. It’s too bad. I’d like to hear more from him.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this Spring playlist from me! If you like this and you want more, you might want to listen to Spring Radio, which I add to every year. Thirteen and a half hours of music and counting.

Also

I have neglected to share a few other playlists with you over the last year, so I’m going to rectify that right now 😀

Hm, I thought there were more that I missed, but I guess not! I’ll be back to share a Summer 2023 playlist a few months from now (after I make one), I’m sure 🙂

Before then, though, I need to come back here and tell you about so many other things! I’ve been mending holes in socks and in unraveled crochet blankets. I’ve been working on prototypes for a new polymer clay item for the shop. I’ve got squirrel minions now, and they work for peanuts (ha!). But these things will keep. I’ll be back another day in a hopefully not too distant future!
