Almost from the moment the calendar page flipped over to September, the mornings and evenings have felt a hint of a chill. At least one night this week there was more than just a hint. We had all of the bedroom windows open, and woke up to discover it was 48F degrees out there. (And plenty cold inside, too – brrr!) And yet, by Noon, it was summer again, and climbing into the high 70s.
September is seasonally confused, as am I. I welcome the chill, but am I truly finished with summer? I can’t decide. I’ve got one foot in each season.
This week, I indulged the Autumn foot with a trip to the NJ Sheep and Fiber Festival, and some knitting. A few days later, the other foot insisted we take an early evening trip down the shore, where we could relax for an hour or so on the beach with a good book.
I feel the pendulum starting to swing back towards an Autumnal mood right now. When I’m done here, I think I will make myself a nice maple latte with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Cheers!
