It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples.
The latest batch of earrings that I finished. You know, I really like this group, especially the coral teardrops and the striped rectangles.
Sunday
August 13: Here’s to Spheres. I forgot about my photo project yesterday until I’d lost all of the light 🙈 So I will have to double up today! Here are some apples in the morning light 🍎August 14: Think Positive. When I fill the frame with these paper straws, there’s an optical illusion that they’re out of focus at certain sizes. But when you zoom in you see that they are not actually blurry. This is one of my favorite pairs so far in this Earring of the Day project. I don’t usually use translucent clay in my work, but I mixed up some with varying amounts of opaque for the background here, and I love the effect. The spark for this design came from a painting of a pot by < ahref="https://www.instagram.com/johannacarlisle_art/">Johanna Carlisle>/a> as you can see in the background.
Monday
August 15: Chasing Triangles. Just packed up a handcrafted goodie for a (hopefully) happy customer 🙂
Tuesday
August 16: A Perfect Pairing. Here is a vintage tea towel from 1966. The background is one of my favorite greens, and I love how it looks with a nice orangey red. Why do I have a 1966 towel in my kitchen? Because tomorrow is Neil’s birthday, and I always display this towel that’s as old as he is every August (I have a 1971 one for my May birthday, too). Weird little tradition, but why not?
Wednesday
Grateful to Past Me for freezing chopped up strawberries and rhubarb back in May, and for pre-mixing the dry ingredients for a crumbly topping back in July. Both actions have enabled me to stick a strawberry rhubarb crisp in the oven with relatively little effort on my lunch hour. It’s just finished baking, and it smells lovely 😋August 17: Every Fiber of Your Being: My Liathite Sweater is coming along nicely. I love the cable detail. We went to Black River Barn for dinner to celebrate Neil’s birthday. We sat right next to the water, and got to watch the turtles and the fish swimming by.
Thursday
August 18: Where the lines lead. I suppose people think these power structures are an eye sore but I find them fascinating.
Friday
August 19: Mood Swing. Morning mood. Leftover strawberry crisp and the start of the work day.
Thanks for helping me celebrate the week! If you want to see some of this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram ♥
