Heather at Beauty That Moves is hosting a little series wherein participants share glimpses of their works in progress during these Summer days. It sounded like a nice idea to me, particularly since nothing is actually getting completed around here lately… This is what I’m doing in my spare time:
A baby sweater. Making the mustard-colored one for my nephew-to-be got me thinking two things:
- there must be an easier way to put it all together than knitting flat and sewing seams – how about knitting in the round?
- all of that stockinette is really boring – how about a nice simple cable to shake things up?
So I cast on this one, winging it all the way. I’ve gotten a bit further than the image suggests – the body is finished and could probably stand as a vest, but I’m going to go ahead and put sleeves on it. I’ll share all of the details when I’m done.
A tote bag makeover. I’ve got a small pile of these tote bags with outdated logos on them, and a need for a sturdy bag that I can use for dragging around the usual purse contents as well as my camera. I figured I could use the existing canvas bag as a lining for a new tote, adding pockets to cover up the logos.
I’ve got all of the fabric cut out, and one pocket put on so far. I’ll share these details, too, when it’s finished.
I’m going to try to post one of these studio posts weekly. Here’s hoping there’s progress in between, or it’s going to get really boring for all of you to read <grin>.
[…] finished both of the projects I showed you on my first Summer Studio post a few weeks ago, so how about a peek at what I’m working on […]
