Polka Dot Cottage: Anticipating a crafty weekend

Anticipating a crafty weekend

Posted October 16th, 2008 by

I spent all day yesterday packing orders, shipping them, and taming my various email accounts.  Still not done with the email, but I felt I needed a day off today, nonetheless.  So… I put on some music, straightened up the house (because, for some reason, I actually felt like it) and then spent the next few hours at my sewing machine.

Two more potential quilts

As you know, last weekend I finished two quilts for the boys that I had started over a year ago – one in red and one in blue.  I had also set aside enough fat quarters for a pink variety and a green one, and today I  stitched together the two tops.

Initially, I figured the green one could be for Neil and I to share, after the kids were in bed, while watching TV together, cozy on the couch.  And the pink one, well, I thought that would be a perfect floor blanket for a hypothetical daughter.  However, since Neil doesn’t think that we should have babies just to satisfy some sewing whim of mine (the nerve!), I am going to have to come up with some other plan for these. Heh.

I’m going to work on the green one this weekend.  I even have some crazy idea of putting it together the traditional way and doing some real honest-to-goodness binding on it, instead of propagating the wimp-out method I used on the other two. With cooler weather predicted for this weekend, I feel a wave of cozy indoor quilted craftiness coming on.

Turning leaves

I just love crafty weekends, especially in the fall, when I can step outside for a few minutes, crunch some leaves underfoot, and return indoors for a cup of hot apple cider.  Mmmm!  Note to self: add apple cider to the food shopping list for tomorrow. A weekend full of warm drinks, crisp air, crunchy leaves, and the hum of the sewing machine…  Can I just skip Friday and dive right in?
