TWiP: Time Management

This Week in Pictures, Week 12, 2021

I’ve got to admit, it’s getting a bit embarrassing, how long it takes for me to publish my “weekly” blog posts.

The truth is, while I still see the value in having these posts, and while I know that Future Me will love reading them someday, Present Me just doesn’t want to be sitting at this desk.

I spend 7:30am-4:30pm every day writing and editing things for other people. So then, when it comes time to put together a blog post for myself, I just have a hard time talking myself back to the computer. And sometimes, not only do I have a blog post to write, but I also have a week’s-worth of photos to process. So it can be a multi-evening time suck.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, because I do. But I would enjoy it a lot more if I hadn’t just spent all day sitting in the same chair staring at a screen. Balance is important to me, and too many hours in one spot causes a definite imbalance.

All this to explain why I’m more than a week late with this blog post, and will be at least five days late with the next one. (I back-date these, so Future Me can find them filed on the right day, but you and I know that the March 27th post is showing up on April 8th. And the April 3rd post is showing up hopefully later today or tomorrow, but who really knows?)

I’ve also got a Family Room Squircleghan post in me, waiting to get out. I finished that blanket back in January, so it’s been a while.

I also want to talk about the Cottage Ripple blanket I’m crocheting, maybe share some resources for those of you who might want to make your own, and share some advice on choosing colors, etc.

I may have to take a few days off from work so I can do all of the personal writing I want to do, and still have some hours left in the day for being creative, doing a load of laundry, or taking a walk outside!

It’s not that I don’t have time for myself, because I do. I’ve made sure of that. I just have trouble making myself spend my Me Time in the exact same way that I spent my Work Time. So, it’s a challenge, but I’m sure I will figure it out eventually 🙂

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Most of these images are posted on Instagram, but others aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples. It’s more laid back than the Project 365s of previous years. You can learn more here 🙂

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).

TWiP Clips

Here’s a very short video, featuring 1.5-second moments from the week:

Saturday

I tend to think that New York City is best appreciated from afar.

Red winged blackbirds at DeKorte Park, in Lyndhurst NJ. Took a walk there with my Mom today.

Sunday

It’s a beautiful day to sit on a tree stump and soak up some sun.

Monday

Purple crocuses everywhere, and one yellow flower pokes through the leaves as if to say, “look at me!” 💜💛💜💜
(I’m doing #pspicturenature with @traceyclark for the next 40 days 🙂. Today’s prompt is “Statement Piece.”)

Some polymer clay + resin prototype rings that I made this week and have been having fun wearing.

Tuesday

Day 2 – Lost in the Weeds. Honestly, I like a lot of the weeds we have around here. But then, nobody has ever accused me of having a tidy or well kept yard 😁

Wednesday

Day 3 – It’s No Accident: I’m leaning pretty heavily on the crocuses at the moment, because they are the only thing in bloom around here. But they are also a perfect example of complementary colors 💛💜

Thursday

We interrupt the Picture Nature project to bring you an image of this beautiful box of deliciousness most definitely not found in nature 😁😋

Day 4 – The Shape of Water: it rained yesterday, so my search for a nice deep puddle was not in vain. With one glance you can see equally the mud and old leaves below, and the moody gray sky above 🤎💙

Friday

Day 5 – Puzzle Pieces: I really hope that something blooms around here soon, otherwise my feed is basically going to be a month of brown 😬
