My mind and my photography have been on two tracks this week: berries and knitting. The wineberries have come in, and I think I’m doubly interested in them this year because I pretty much ignored wineberry season last year. I’m making up for lost time. Additionally, I’ve discovered some blackberries around my office and in my own yard. So that’s cool. I have a black thumb, so when things just grow wild around here it’s exciting. I kind of want to look for some more berries to plant, though. Or, more accurately, to get Neil to plant 😜 If I had blueberries, and then maybe something more unusual for this area, like boysenberries or loganberries, then I could just whip up a Wineberry Crisp without ever having to buy any fruit at all, and it would be full of less-than-typical berries! If there’s anything I like more than doing things in a less-than-typical way, I’m not sure what it is…
As for the knitting, I’m on a deadline because I want this sweater finished before I leave for Ireland next month. There should be no problem hitting that, as I only have sleeves left as of last night. So now I have a new self-imposed deadline of finishing the sleeves this weekend so that I can publish the pattern ASAP. Keep an eye out for that, because as long as I can convince my fingers to knit like the wind, the Fireside Cardigan pattern is coming out in the next seven days.
So, what is This Week in Pictures?
It’s a roundup of the microblogging I’ve done on Flickr and Instagram all week. This includes photos I shot for Project 365 and any other extra images I may have posted.
Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S7).
Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…
Saturday
I was going to take a picture of the lily, but this is actually more interesting. I’ve never seen such a pale dragonfly before.(View original Project 365 post on Flickr.)
Sometimes it makes me sad that my kids are no longer little and interested in spontaneous Summer fun. But you know what? You can actually stick a sparkler in the wet grass, light it, and have a fun little photo shoot all by yourself. And you can repeat as necessary without anybody getting impatient about all of the picture taking 📷. Fun night. Thank goodness I am easily entertained 😁

Sunday

If the measure of a weekend can be found in the number of inches knit, then this has been a good weekend indeed.

Monday

It was chilly at my desk. And I was getting tired of canned air anyway. So I took my laptop outside to work for a while.

Tuesday

I went outside on my lunch hour to pick some wineberries from the brambles at the edge of the woods near our office building, and while there were plenty of those, I also found two other kinds of berries. My research tells me these are black raspberries, and the others (not pictured) are blackberries. I am curious if there’s a more specific variety that I can narrow it down to, though. More research is required!

Story for Tuesday
Wednesday

Last night, while picking wineberries in my back yard, I disturbed a robin, who was very angry about the whole thing. It turns out she had a nest about a foot away from where my head was! I went back this morning with my camera and zoom lens, and stood a respectable distance away to see if there was anybody in the nest. I found this guy, who appears to be fresh out of the shell! No wonder mama bird was annoyed with me.
