TWiP: Rain, rain, go away

This Week in Pictures (TWiP) at Polka Dot Cottage
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but over the course of the last few weeks, I’ve been tweaking the formatting of these TWiP posts.

I want to make it more obvious which images are for my daily photo project and which images are from Instagram. And I also want to be clear about which were taken with my phone and which were taken with the fancy camera.

I don’t know if anyone really even cares about differentiating these things, but it makes me happy. I like categorizing and organizing, and tweaking with my blog’s format.

Besides, how else am I supposed to spend these soul-sucking rainy days?

I really have felt completely uninspired to do anything on my to-do list all week. Is it really the rain’s fault? I have no idea, but it makes a handy scapegoat.

This morning I am getting out of the house for a little nature adventure with my sister, so hopefully that will snap me out of whatever it is that’s making me so sloth-like!

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the photos I shot for Project 365 (one image each day for all of 2016), plus some snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

Saturday

Instagram (πŸ“±): Cherry cupcakes on a Saturday morning… Why not? πŸ’β€

Instagram (πŸ“±): Brought my cupcakes to Mom and Dad’s house πŸ’ 😊 [Taken at my parents’ house.]

365 (πŸ“·): 2016 121/366 – This cat was a surprisingly willing participant in my little photo shoot. He used to run and hide when we’d visit, but lately he sticks around, and this time he even posed for me. [Taken at my parents’ house.]

Sunday

Instagram (πŸ“±): It’s a chilly, rainy Sunday. It seems like a good morning for digging deeper into this #artofeverydayphotography book I got for Christmas. It’s already inspired me to learn something new about my phone’s camera. Apparently it has a low light setting – a fact that is handy to know on overcast #morningslikethese πŸ˜ŠπŸ“±β˜• πŸ“–

Instagram (πŸ“±): Today is the last day to enter to win some of these goodies… #pdc

365 (πŸ“±): 2016 122/366 – The dandelion situation might possibly be kinda out of control…

Monday

365 (πŸ“·): 2016 123/366 – Iced coffee, pretzels, chocolate, a lit candle, crochet, and Grantchester on the PBS Android TV app. Just a typical Monday night in my room πŸ˜€

Tuesday

365 (πŸ“·): 2016 124/366 – The front steps are wet with rain. I should probably get used to it. Rain is in the forecast for the whole week.

Instagram (πŸ“±): Ooh, I just love seeing my patterns in print 😊 A bunch of samples just arrived, including the new #pdcmodfloralmandala pattern. Also? I am in love with this crochet hook. If someone doesn’t buy it soon, I’m just going to slip it into my own collection πŸ˜‰

Instagram (πŸ“±): Do you remember last fall when I designed the #pdcportholecardigan? I knit 3 of those little sweaters and then never published the pattern. Well, tonight I cast on number 4. This time I’m going to get that pattern written 😊

Wednesday

365 (πŸ“·): 2016 125/366 – I’m not sure why, but whenever I’m wandering aimlessly around someplace new, I always have an impulse to check out their food stores. I’m easily amused by seeing the same old products in exotic new layouts, apparently…

Instagram (πŸ“±): This is the part where I separate the sleeves. It’s all easy stockinette from here. Baby sweaters are so nice and fast to knit!

Thursday

365 (πŸ“·): 2016 126/366 – That moment when all of your mis-matched breakfast dishes are in the same aesthetically-pleasing color family.

Instagram (πŸ“±): It’s not all artsy-craftsy all the time around here, you know. Sometimes I fold laundry, too 😜

Friday

Instagram (πŸ“±): All I have wanted to do all week is sip coffee and nerd out on one electronic device or other. I blame the rain. I need a push. And some sunshine. 😞 β˜”

Instagram (πŸ“±): I’m giving in to the #rainyday vibe for 10 minutes and doing a little #knitting at Starbucks before I have to pick up the kids. [Taken at Starbucks.]

Instagram (πŸ“±): I should have stayed at Starbucks. The Bicker Brothers are in full force today. #notrelaxing πŸ™πŸ™

365 (πŸ“·): 2016 127/366 – I feel like maybe there’s been an excessive amount of rain and chilly temperatures this week. At least the plants seem happy about it. Personally, I’m ready for a little bit of sunshine and to take off my sweater.

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on FlickrΒ and/or Instagram.

I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!

  1. The bicker brothers…lol! I am sorry to tell you that mine still occasionally bicker as adults. Maybe it’s a brother thing? Your baby sweater looks adorable. πŸ™‚

    1. My theory has always been that the closer they are, the worse they bicker. These two have been each other’s best friends for most of their childhood, but when they fight, I want to take cover, LOL!

      1. LOL! Yes, I think that is very true!

  2. Oh my gosh, Grantchester! We just finished season 2 in the UK. Love your pix.

    1. Hi, Ginny! We just finished season 2 on PBS here. That show ticks all of the right boxes for me. British mystery set in the 1950s? Perfect πŸ™‚
