TWiP: Colorful Things for Trying Times

This Week in Pictures, Week 21, 2022

This was just the 21st week of 2022. My birthday was on May 22nd. How cool would it have been if my birthday was on May 22nd, in the 22nd week of 2022? That would have been pretty awesome. Alas, it was not to be. I have had to settle for having a May 22nd birthday in the 21st week of 2022.

It’s ok. I’ll get over it 😆

Looking at my photos from this week, you might think that all I did was lay around on my bed making granny squares and ogling peonies. You wouldn’t be far off. I did do a few other things, though. For example, I spent some of those days working for 8-ish hours. Though I will admit there was some peony ogling then, too, since I shuffled around my monitors so that I could fit them on the desk 🌺🌸🌷

What can I say? Peony season comes but once a year. And surrounding myself with pretty flowers, and putting my creative energy into colorful useful objects (like granny square blankets) is my coping mechanism of choice when the world feels like it has lost its ever-loving mind.

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples.

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).

Saturday

I spent a lovely morning remembering my friend. I feel that I’ve had a bit of social anxiety lately, but I’m glad I overcame it. Michele would have been happy. She was always the one pushing me to get out of my content-with-my-own-company comfort zone when we were kids, and be among people 😁

Sunday

It’s been a nice low key birthday 😊. I started by liberating a few peonies from the plant, then I took myself out to a new-to-me coffee shop (Black River Roasters) for a light roast and a scone. Later, Aidan and I tried yet another new coffee shop (iced latte this time, at Queen City Coffee Roasters). We ordered take out for dinner 😋 (from Chimney Rock Inn) and played some games. And I’ve come to the decision that my car needs an epic scrappy granny square blanket, so I got started on that 😁

Monday

I took today off from work, as a little day-after-my-birthday present for me. I’m still in the mood to play with these granny squares, and I’ve been moving these flowers around the house so that they are always where I am, and I can enjoy them fully.

Wednesday

Ever since I added a second monitor a few months ago, it’s been harder to get that cozy vibe on my desk. I did manage to shuffle things around a bit so I could fit my flowers here, but it’s still kind of tight. I might need a bigger desk, LOL!
Work is over, and I’m back at it. I may be unstoppable.
I’ll just make a few granny squares while I’m in between projects, I said.
3 days and 49 squares later…
