Someone turned fifty years old on Saturday. Spoiler alert 🚨! It was me 😀
It was a lovely day, too. We decided at somewhat of a last minute to have a party, and so many of our extended family members were busy, but we had a nice intimate gathering. It was just the right size for getting our feet wet with hosting celebrations again. We’ve gotten rusty since the pandemic began, and honestly, we’ve never really been great party throwers anyway, so it’s not like the bar was super high 😀
So that was Saturday. And, as you will see from the photos, I pretty much have spent all of my indoor time in the same room, because it’s a real novelty having it so nicely cleaned up. And I’m still enjoying my birthday balloons and the peonies I cut from the front yard.
It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Most of these images are posted on Instagram, but others aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples. It’s more laid back than the Project 365s of previous years. You can learn more here 🙂
Here’s a very short video, featuring 1.5-second moments from the week. This has been a good week: birthday, peonies, walking, making. Really good:
Saturday
So, this is 50. Or, more specifically, this is messy green hair sweaty post workout 50. I could have waited until I was more presentable before snapping a photo, but I like to keep it real around here 🥳5️⃣0️⃣🎂We had a little party tonight. The first since the pandemic started. It was so nice to be able to spend time in our home with our vaccinated relatives 😊
Sunday
Some friends my Mom brought over for my party last night 😁
This is my favorite month of the year, and so I expect a lot from May weekends. So far this year they have not disappointed 😍. This particular weekend involved hosting a small-but-lovely family party (our first since the pandemic!), and peonies in bloom in the front yard. Life is sweet 💗💗💗Just picked up the lawn sign, which means it is official – in less than a month we’ll have another high school graduate around here!
Monday
I rearranged my desk. I’m happy right now, but I’m not sure what I’m going to do for my next Zoom meeting – the clutter that is taking over the bedroom behind me will be very visible. I might have to use a fake background for a while 😜
Tuesday
My sparkle hexagon stud earring collection just quadrupled in size 😁. Picture 1 shows the three that I bought years ago (I wear that green pair more than any other earrings I own), and picture 2 shows the nine that I made today. I had to throw away a tenth that was a mess, and a few of these are not perfect, but I am really pleased for a first try! I’m probably going to make another batch later so I can replace the one I tossed, and make a few colors I hadn’t originally thought of.
Wednesday
The balloon people are still going strong. And ever since we cleaned for the party last weekend, I’ve been spending a lot of time down here, enjoying the nice uncluttered space.
Friday
I took today off, and I may just stay here on the couch, surrounded by week-old birthday decorations, scrolling aimlessly on my phone. It’s kinda nice.Blue hour at my desk, working on a few personal projects.
Thanks for helping me celebrate the week! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram ♥
Southeast Alaska! It’s been around 50 degrees during the day, for most of May and now June. And while many places are experiencing drought, we have had torrential rain. It feels like fall…ugh. Well, it IS a rainforest but it’s been more than average in the past 18 months. Last year we got about 175 inches. It’s getting old, like me! I need sun! Cheers to summer weather!
Oh, wow! I’ve heard Alaska is beautiful, but I definitely need some warmer weather than 50s in May! I hope you see the sun soon. Too many rainy days can be so depressing.
The September Shawl (2017) I knit a shawl which I really love, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to wear it. Help me, please!
My decades of Fall music (2016) I thought maybe I just had some weird hangup with this season and music, but I'm starting to realize that it may be more universal than that.
TWiP: it's girly in here (2014) Most of my creative energy this week has gone into first preparing for our 4-year-old friends to visit, and then entertaining them when they're here.
Weekend Favorites (2013) It's that time of the week where I share my favorite photos and links. Also, this week I whine about how out-of-shape I have become.
This boy (2011) Ever since the days of the "Blankie O' Love" this boy has been all about Cozy. Wherever he is, if
Happy 50th Birthday Lisa! Love your crafty stuff and love peonies! I have been enjoying your posts and photos of a place that gets real summers.
Aw, thanks! Do you live somewhere cold, then?
