Peony season ended in an explosion of pink petals on my kitchen counter. I always want more time with these gigantic blooms. I must say, though, when they’ve decided they’ve had enough, they self destruct magnificently, in voluminous piles, photogenic in their own right.
Aside from the demise of the peonies, this week saw a cherry cake, a Peruvian drink, a bind off, a cast on, a niece’s birthday, and other little pleasures of life.
It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but others aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples. It’s more laid back than the Project 365s of previous years. You can learn more here 🙂
I crochet all of my blankets in the same yarn (Berroco Vintage) so that I can use the leftovers together for new blankets. I am not currently planning to start a new one, but looking at these leftovers all spread out like this makes me think a scrappy granny square blanket wouldn’t be out of the question 🤔
Sunday
I was re-arranging the peonies in the vase, when they exploded somewhat spectacularly on the counter in front of me. I guess they’re done 😁Another view of the pile of peony petals.
Monday
I’ve been in the mood for a cherry cake. From a box. Artificial flavors and colors and all.
Tuesday
My brother has been teaching himself woodworking lately, and he made me this Polka Dot Cottage sign for my birthday 🤩The only thing more satisfying than the end of a project is the beginning of one 😁
The 18yo and I are on a quest for the ingredients of a Peruvian drink he is making for a Spanish class project. We tried (and failed) to find purple corn at a market nearby, but we did find some pretty honeysuckle growing near the railroad tracks where we parked.
Friday
Celebrating six with niece number two.Chicha Morada, made by my high school senior. It’s such a pretty color.
