TWiP: Clayathon 2018, Part 1

This Week in Pictures: Clayathon 2018, part 1

I’m sitting on a comfy hotel bed, sipping coffee, and putting together this post while the morning sun streams in the window. It’s a beautiful-looking day in South Jersey, and in a few minutes I’ll be heading down to my spacious work space at this year’s Clayathon.

I hope you’ll forgive the brevity in this introduction, as I’m eager to put down the laptop and get back to the clay!

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the microblogging I’ve done on Instagram all week. This includes photos I shot for Project 365 (the theme for 2018 is mornings: #myyearofmornings2018) and any other extra images I may have posted.

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Feb 10 – Just hanging out in the Grease Monkey lobby with @ecedgeworth, learning more about college basketball than I really care to know. [Taken at Grease Monkey.]

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Feb 11 – I was in the mood for a long drive this morning, so I put on my new mix CD and took off in pursuit of adventure. What I found was a new-to-me Trader Joe’s, followed by a gigantic Whole Foods. So, I basically spent my Sunday morning driving and food shopping, but it was much more fun than it sounds like 😁

Instagram πŸ“±: – If you need me, I’ll be right here, enjoying a little #hygge.

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Feb 12 – Every time I look up from what I’m working on, I contemplate what new doo-dads I should make for my cubicle this week when I’m at #clayathon2018. I’m thinking more pens. And maybe some magnets. Possibly a few push pins… I’m getting excited for the #clayathon, can you tell? 😁 [Taken at work.]

Instagram πŸ“±: – Monday night: Buckwheat tea and biscuits, Granny’s cup and saucer 😊

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Feb 13 – I wonder how many different angles I can photograph this behemoth of a coffee machine from before it starts to look like I’m phoning it in 😁 [Taken at work.]

Three on a Theme πŸ“·: Theme: Valentine’s Day – SweetTarts from my sweetheart πŸ’—

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Feb 14 – This morning I have time before work for some picture taking, so how about I show you those finished bathroom washcloths? I used a different stitch pattern for each. They will supplement my old knit cloths nicely, I think 😊

Instagram πŸ“±: – I’m packing for #clayathon2018 and each year I try to travel as light as possible. I took this picture and was all set to declare victory when I noticed something: there’s no clay in this pile. Could you imagine how annoyed I’d be if I got there and realized I’d forgotten to bring clay?? 🀣

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Feb 15 – Before I go to work, a little bit of packing for my trip

365 πŸ“±: #myyearofmornings Feb 16 – My table mates haven’t set up their work areas yet, but I’m ready. Now for the hardest part: figuring out what to make first 😁 [Taken at the Clayathon.]

Instagram πŸ“±: – I started with pens 😁. A batch of dark colors, and a batch of bright colors, both ready for the oven. There are at least two more batches in my immediate future. But first, lunch! [Taken at the Clayathon.]

Instagram πŸ“·: – When you forget how to make your own design and have to read your own tutorial to figure it out 😁 [Taken at the Clayathon.]

  1. Love following your talented interests and trips!! Looks like fun to be with others with same interests.

    1. Thanks, Chloe! Yes, it really is great to be around so many people who enjoy the same things I do. The polymer clay community is pretty great, and I especially love spending time with the friends I’ve made in the NJ and Philly guilds 😊
