This week felt so short! I spent Saturday through Tuesday on a polymer clay retreat, as you probably know by now (since I’ve been yammering on about it all week), and once I got home, I wanted to keep the momentum going and work on a few things I hadn’t had a chance to do while I was away.
I always think that time goes by quickly when you don’t inject much variety into your days, and this week seems to bear that out. It’s been All Clay All of the Time, and while I think this is fun, it is also fraught with a healthy dose of, “whoa, when did it get to be Friday already?”
I hope you like seeing my work space, trays of work in progress, and piles of finished trinkets, because that’s what I’ve got for you this week!
So, what is This Week in Pictures?
It’s a roundup of the photos I shot with my DSLR for Project 365 (one image each day for all of 2016), plus some phone snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.
Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…
Saturday
365: 2016 44/366 – A day and a half at the Clayathon, and here’s what I’ve got so far: 12 canes (two of which I dislike enough that they’ll probably end up on my scrap pile by the end of the trip), and the parts for 8 pairs of earrings, 2 seam rippers, 2 stick pens, and a crochet hook (all of which will need to be sanded and buffed before they can be assembled). [In the work room at the Clayathon]
Sunday
365: 2016 45/365 – I actually got some finished objects done today, including these earrings. The night is still young, though, so hopefully I can crank out a few more things. I’m packing up to leave tomorrow. Sigh. I should have planned to stay until Tuesday. I’ve got at least another day left in me 😉 [In the work room at the Clayathon]
Monday
365: 2016 46/366 – So, I did stay an extra day (which was a great decision, I think) and so I plan to hit the road relatively early tomorrow. To make it easier, I put away about half of my stuff earlier today, and only left out the essential supplies for making canes. In case I want to crank out one or two at midnight 😀 [In the work room at the Clayathon]
Let’s Pretend It’s Tuesday
365: 2016 47/365 – I can’t believe it, but I actually screwed up Project 365 yesterday. I didn’t take a picture at all. It’s been years since I missed a day. That stinks, but I’m just going to shake it off and take two pictures today 🙂 First up is this one, which I would have taken yesterday if I wasn’t so busy driving and napping (not at the same time, thankfully). It’s my bowl of mostly-finished things I made this weekend. They all still need some machine buffing. If I’d taken this yesterday as I should have, a good portion of them would also have needed to be sanded, but I took care of that job last night.
Wednesday
365: 2016 48/365 – "No lunch until you finish photographing all of this clay stuff!" says me to me. "And just to drive my point home, how about I leave this cold pizza here to taunt you? Now get clicking!" (I’m kind of a mean boss sometimes.)
Thursday
365: 2016 49/366 – Retro canes are timeless. Some of these are over 10 years old (which is why they are tiny stubs). Others, I made this past weekend. Blogged here.
Friday
365: 2016 50/366 – Sometimes I look up from what I’m doing and notice that the house has gotten dark around me. Time flies when you’re nerding out in Photoshop.
Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Flickr and/or Instagram.
I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!
