TWiP: Summer fruit, flowers, and water fun

This Week in Pictures (TWiP) at Polka Dot Cottage

I see a few themes emerging this week: fruit, flowers, and under water photography.

I predict more of the same in the coming weeks. It’s some of my favorite stuff of summer.

Happy Fourth of July weekend to my fellow Americans! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the photos I shot for Project 365 (one image each day for all of 2016), plus some snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

365 πŸ“±: 2016 177/366 – I knew my phone *technically* was capable of underwater photography, but actually submerging it took a little bit of bravery on my part. Glad I took the plunge (ha ha)! Next time I do this, I will give more thought to composition and such. This time I was just glad I could get it to work and didn’t ruin my phone in the process ☺ [Taken at my parents’ house.]

365 πŸ“·: 2016 178/366 – I finally remembered to go to the farmers market at a time when there was actually a market in session. (I am constantly remembering at the wrong times!) I was happy to see there are still strawberries to be had, and I am so glad to have gotten to the pickle guy. These pickles have spoiled me for store-bought ones, and so I go all winter and spring missing my favorite sweet pickle slices.

365 πŸ“·: 2016 179/366 – Yesterday’s farmers market strawberries are today’s individual fruit crisps. I used my Wineberry Crisp recipe, halved, with strawberries as the only fruit, and cooked for just 45 minutes. The recipe is here:…

365 πŸ“·: 2016 180/366 – These lilies always do so well here.

365 πŸ“·: 2016 181/366 – I’m playing around with new ways to display my earrings and such, since I may have a small dedicated spot in which to sell them locally soon.

365 πŸ“±: 2016 182/366 – More fun with my phone under water. Try as I might, I couldn’t get anyone to agree to put on some goggles and let me take pictures of their faces. So, I made do with capturing sons and nephews as they swam by. It’s more luck than skill for me, since I can’t actually see the phone screen when I press the shutter… [Taken at my parents’ house.]

365 πŸ“·: 2016 183/366 – I’m so glad my yellow roses bloomed this year. I wasn’t sure they were going to.

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on FlickrΒ and/or Instagram.

I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!
