Class reunion

Neil introduced me to LinkedIn a few days ago. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s kind of like MySpace for grown-ups, without the flashy graphics or the fun. It really is geared towards professionals who want to make business connections. I’ve entered all of my pertinent information (what I could remember, anyway… so much of my life before kids and clay is a haze) and added a few people to my network. The best part? I’m finding people I went to college with and haven’t heard from since I graduated, 14 years ago. Right now my inbox holds messages from my Freshman year roommate, one of my floormates that same year, and my Junior/Senior year boyfriend. And there are still others I am getting in touch with. I’m feeling positively reunion-ey! I only live about 15 minutes from my Alma Mater, but I rarely go there. Today I drove by the back entrance on my way to the local farmer’s market, and it just felt sweet. I really had such a wonderful time there – I loved (almost) every minute of it. Driving by, and seeing some of those names again online brought those warm feelings to the forefront. There’s just nothing like the going-away-to-college experience, is there? Nothing like it before or since. I’m looking forward to replying to those messages from old friends and catching up a bit (although it may have to wait until tomorrow – it’s getting late and my eyes are bleary).

Would you believe I’m still trying to get through all of the orders in my inbox?? I promised myself that I wouldn’t blog or read any of my feeds until the orders were done. Well, I spent several hours on it and decided I needed a break, despite that fact that I still have 2 days worth of orders backed-up. It’s insane. I usually like to get through processing all orders before I pack up a batch, but if I do that, it’ll be next week before the next batch can go, and I don’t want to make everybody wait that long. I’m definitely packaging up a batch tomorrow morning, with the “help” of my new hires Fric and Frac, and to anyone who ordered (or paid) after July 3rd, my apologies… you’ll have to wait for the next go-round. Sometimes it really stinks being a one-woman-show. I hate to make people wait, yet I can’t exactly run myself ragged – not in the summertime, when I’ve got toes to dip in the kiddie pool, fruit smoothies to make, and Curious George UNO to play! Your orders will go out by Tuesday. I promise

Lisa

[Edited to add: I almost forgot Color Week, again! Today is orange, and I didn’t think ahead so all I have is this flower, and my lipstick! If it wasn’t so late and I didn’t have the aforementioned bleary factor to contend with, I’d grab the camera and snap a picture of the bright orange Mega Blocks boat balancing precariously on the top of the pile of “toys that don’t really have a home.” I can see it from here, but you’re just going to have to take my word for it. Where’s the big L on the forehead icon??]
