Trains and buses. We hopped on a lot of trains and buses during our trip to Scotland, and I loved the convenience of it. I wish we had more public transportation options here in New Jersey, but you pretty much have to drive everywhere.
Our home base during this trip was Glasgow, We had train stations and bus stops within walking distance of our hotel, and wherever we wanted to go, there was a bus or a train to get us there. I took a thousand photos (no exaggeration) and earmarked 300 of them as “favorites” that I shared with family and friends. But I also chose 60 images that were my “favorite favorites” because 300 is a lot to digest.

While looking at the album, you can click on an image to enlarge it, and if you want to see where it was taken, click the little “i” info symbol. That will open a panel that includes the name of the town, and a little map, as you can see in the screenshot above.
I also made daily videos, roughly 60 to 90 seconds long. Looking back at them now, I see they are mostly views out the windows of airplanes, trains, and buses. There’s a lot of “getting there” without so much “being there” in these videos. But watching the cities and countryside fly by as we traveled was part of the fun, so I hope you’ll enjoy that, too. Here’s a playlist for all nine days of our trip:
It was a lovely adventure, and I hope we can go back someday. I’ve enjoyed both of my excursions to that part of the world (we went to Ireland in 2019), and though I have historically not traveled much, I think I’d like to start saving my pennies for more adventures abroad. I’m not sure where yet, but I kind of like the idea of visiting one of the Nordic countries or the Netherlands.
How about you? Have you traveled anywhere nice lately? Feel free to share a link to your own blog post, photo album, or social media post so we can see where you went!
