Hi, all! I have so many things to share here – more new shirts and dresses sewn, a finished knit shawl, photos from Scotland – but the most overdue of them all is this Summer playlist. I compiled these songs together in late May and have listened to them ad nauseum since then. This is probably my favorite playlist that I’ve made in recent memory. It’s been three months and there are very few songs on it that I am sick of yet. That’s saying a lot.
2024 has been an awesome year for new music from old favorites so far. Guster, Crowded House, Decemberists, Real Estate, Travis, and more. (This playlist was finished before the new Travis album came out, but I spent some time with their old albums recently and found a bunch of great songs I’d never heard before, so I used one of those in this playlist.)
Every time I make a new playlist, I take a look at Spotify’s recommended tracks to add, and usually I feel pretty meh about them, but this time around they were really spot-on. I chose four or five Spotify-recommended tracks, all of which were by bands I’d never heard of before, and these tracks are now some of my very favorites on this playlist. “Birds and the Bees” and “Rocks and Rubies” in particular.
Have a listen! I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I have been 🙂
These tracks have also been added to my Summer Radio playlist, which now has more than 19 hours of music in it, perfect for shuffling and leaving on in the background while you go about your day.
And speaking of new music by old favorites, I’ve started a new ever-changing playlist called New Jams from Old Bands. Right now it is filled with music from the bands I mentioned earlier, and a few others that I’ve known and liked for some time. I’ll keep adding new music as it is released, and eventually I will remove tracks when they stop feeling new to me. If you like the same music I do, you might enjoy this one.
Happy listening!
