You may think I haven’t been here in a while. That’s not entirely true, though.
I’ve logged in a few times since my last post, intending to share photos from my recent adventures, or chat about things, but then it would just start to feel like too much. Too many photos to wrangle. Too many words to string together in a compelling way. And so I’d shrug my shoulders and resolve to come back later and get those posts written and shared.
I realized this week that what I really need is a short and simple topic to write about. And now I have one!
Please allow me, in a short and simple way, to share my new An Autumn Brew playlist.
I tend to lean into a mellow sound for my Fall playlists, so this has some of that, but not as much as previous Fall playlists may have. It also is missing some of my Fall staples, like Crowded House and Innocence Mission. I think maybe they both need to release some new music soon so I can rectify this omission next year 🙂
But enough of what this playlist isn’t. Here’s what it is:
I kick things off with a tune from local band Meyersville. I’ve known most of these guys since they were in Kindergarten – they were in Aidan’s grade in school – so it’s really fun to see them making great music.
After that, there are several artists who have graced my Autumn playlists in the past, including October Project, who have epitomized this time of year for me since I first heard them on Mountain Stage on WFUV, driving home from work one Friday afternoon in (I think) late August of 1994. They performed a few songs, and I bought their CD as soon as I got home 🙂 I listened to it a lot that Fall. And beyond.
I emailed the band last night to ask a question about the lyrics to their new song, and Julie Flanders, the lyricist, replied right away with such a lovely detailed reply. I was not expecting that! I still need to write back and thank her.
Anyway, this playlist is typical of my usual mixes, so if you like those, you’ll probably like this one.
I feel as if I have exceeded my short-and-simple mandate, so I will take my leave now. Please enjoy this new playlist by itself, or as part of Autumn Radio, which is now over 22 hours long. Ooooooooh, so much Autumnal goodness right there!
I have so many things to share with you, between trips I’ve taken and a sweater I’ve finished knitting, so maybe send me some “write those posts” vibes over the next few days, so I feel inspired to get cracking on those 😀
Would be delighted to see your sweater!
I just sat down to write about it 🙂 If I don’t get distracted by something else, I should have a post published in a few hours. (Big IF, though, LOL)
