I find that my time in the kitchen (both when cooking and when cleaning) goes by easily when I have something entertaining to listen to. Sometimes I play music and dance my way through my tasks, but more often I like to put on a podcast or two and listen to actual people talking about actual things.
I have a few current (and often changing) favorites that I will share with you, but I’m finding lately that I’m running out of listening material before I am running out of kitchen to clean, supper to make, (or book store orders to pack, for that matter).
My preferred kind of podcast features interviews with creative people, but I do listen to other kinds as well. Here’s what’s currently in my queue:
- CraftyPod
- CraftSanity
- Craftcast (are you sensing a theme here?)
- Hello Craft!
- The Transmission (LOST podcast)
- News from Lake Wobegon
- The Splendid Table
- WFUV’s Music Review
Some of these are only 5-15-minute affairs. Others may be longer, but I don’t always listen to the whole thing, preferring to skip some of the less interesting segments. I’d really love to find some more quality listening that revolves around the artsy and domestic. Any tried and true suggestions?
We both listen to the Transmission–funny! You might also like Television Zombies (four thirty-somethings talking about sf genre shows, mostly). Also in my queue:
This American Life
Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me
The Loh Life
Fresh Air
Coverville
See what Penny has been blogging about: April 27: 250th Birthday of Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797)
You told me about The Transmission a few months ago (thanks for that – I look forward to it every week!)
I’ll check these out. Thanks for the recommendations 🙂
Bahahahaha–typical, that I completely forgot that I had ever mentioned it to you. I love their on-location reports.
