Reasons to be Cheerful

I think I’m overdue for some RTBC around here, so I’m just going to go for it.

One Object 365 Days: 294/365 10/20/08

1. Feeling the fog slowly lifting after spending the better part of a week battling a cold (is it me, or do those nasty things linger longer the older you get?).  I’m still congested a bit, and more tired than I feel like I should be, but at least I no longer want to spend the entire day watching bad tv and snuggling under my quilt.

2. Frozen pizza that is there on those nights when I just can’t drag my germy self to the kitchen.

Chicken vegetable soup

3. Real, homemade suppers that come about after one too many Frozen Pizza Nights: a delicious new soup recipe borrowed from Chris at Pink Picket Fence, and adapted by me for crock pot use; fresh baked french bread taken from the best bread cookbook ever; a crackling fire in the fireplace.

4. My hair, which is getting longer, and is more fun to play with.

My little tomato

5. Taking a quick trip to my favorite farmers’ market before it closes for the season.

6. Love Blankie.  Still popular with the Kindergarten set.

7. Birthday gift projects in the pipeline, that I’m excited to try, including a pile of hankies for my Granny and pencil rolls (like this nifty one, but somewhat less ambitious) for two of Eamonn’s classmates.

8. Thursday night with a tall glass of cold water, The Office, the as-yet-unfinished yellow quilt, and my sweetie.

So how about you?  Anything making you particularly happy lately?

  1. I have been happy about the beautiful colors I have been seeing on the trees lately. My little guy, who is quickly turning into a big guy, makes me laugh each day. He says and does the funniest things. He also drives me incredibly crazy, but this isn’t about those times! I am happy to be going out for a “Mom’s Night Out” tonight. I am happy that my husband is almost done with officiating football games for the season. Having lots of things to read on my google reader makes me very happy! I am so jump-up-and-down happy that I finally, after way too many months got my pictures downloaded, or uploaded, or whatever its called, got them ordered, and picked them up last night. I even got them all in order in the albums and am so proud to have that part back on track. Getting the Toys R Us toy catalog flyer in the mail today made me happy, I love to look for things that my little guy would love to play with.

See what Amber D. has been blogging about: I really want to win one of these super cool neclaces… You can enter to win one too…but hurry….

    1. Ah, Moms Night Out. Haven’t had one of those in a while. Enjoy 🙂

  2. I love that market as well.

    1. Actually, I went to the one in Madison, NJ, which is probably way smaller than one in Madison, WI. Yesterday, it was clear it was the next-to-last week. There were only 6 or 7 farmers/vendors there, which is about half as many as usual.

  3. What a beautiful blog! I love the quilts. 🙂 What’s making me happy is a three-day weekend. I’m living in Malaysia and it’s Dipavali holiday on Monday so I have three days off ahead of me. That’s a great reason to be happy and thankful, isn’t it. 🙂

  5. I’m particularly happy about a very relaxing and productive weekend at home, with no plans whatsoever! How’d you adapt the recipe for the crock pot?

    1. I pretty much just dumped everything in the crock pot together for 5 hours on high, without pre-cooking anything 🙂

  6. I’m so glad you tried the soup! Hope you enjoyed it. 🙂

    1. Mmmm, yes, I definitely did! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
