Lady Kina

Friday morning found me lurking around the hotel pool, setting my camera down on crooked tables, and using the self-timer in pursuit of a decent shot of my still-slightly-damp sweater.

I usually start the day on my laptop, but today I I usually start the day on my laptop, but today I feel like going analog 🙂Edited to add: I forgot #memademay starts today, but I am coincidentally wearing my #pdcfancypants PJ bottoms, which I sewed two years ago in some lovely @theshopcabin fabric I picked up from @hawthornesupplyco 💗#morningcoffee #noromagazine #memademay2022
Wanna see something cool? These little polymer cl Wanna see something cool? These little polymer clay doodads are NFC-enabled. Each of them can be programmed to do a specific task when held up to an unlocked phone. They can do stuff like this:- open a website address
- open an app
- sign you into a wifi networkI have one on my keychain that is programmed to open Polka Dot Cottage, so if somebody asks me where they can buy one of those colorful rings I'm wearing, I can tap the polymer tile to their unlocked phone and it will open lisaclarke.net in their browser.I have one in the car that I use to quickly open Spotify on my phone.I have one in the family room that friends and family can use to connect to my wifi network without typing in the long password.I'm still exploring this technology, as well as playing with ways to encase it in polymer and make it pretty. These prototypes make me happy. Even the pink one where the tip of the teardrop broke off. I just sanded it down and drilled a new hole. Weird shape, but good as new.I'm thinking about making tiles like these available in my shop. What do you think? Can you see yourself using a custom polymer clay bauble that lets you easily share your website to a friend's phone? Or share your Instagram profile with that kindred spirit who noticed you snapping photos in the park? So many possibilities! What would you like to be able to do with a tap?
Tfw three minor/routine health/medical things that Tfw three minor/routine health/medical things that by themselves are nbd, converge in a single week, making you spend more lazy days feeling meh and watching TV than you really want, but then the week is over, and everything is back to normal, and you take a shower and go outside and spring has sprung spectacularly 💗💚💗

There are not many things that would make me happy There are not many things that would make me happy for a 42-degree day in April, but a new sweater is one of them! This is my own pattern, a #pdcportholepullover, which is available in my shop 😊I've wanted to knit one in these colors for a long time, so I'm really happy to have finally done it! This is knit in #knitpickssimplywool with #knitpickschroma for the stripes. I actually ran out of the body yarn in the middle of the cuff of the last sleeve, but I had some other random gray worsted in my stash, and I substituted. It's not perfect, but you probably can't tell unless you're looking for it (or unless I point it out by sharing a photo of it 😁)#polkadotcottage #polkadotcottagesweaters #portholepullover #sweaterknitting #sweaterknittersofinstagram #knittersofinstagram #knittersgonnaknit #knittersofnewjersey #pdcinlayring
Two reasons to be cheerful today, the first of whi Two reasons to be cheerful today, the first of which is short hair! 💇🏻‍♀️The more than two years I spent growing my hair long were fun. At it's longest, it reached down to the middle of my back. Last summer I used colored conditioners to transform the gray areas into fun rainbow hues. I made polymer clay barrettes to match every outfit, and clipped my hair up into a fun, curly pile on top of my head. But eventually, it got too long, and I got kind of bored, and that curly pile on top of my head had become a lifeless blob. So I cut off half of it so it was just below my shoulders. I liked that for about two days before I realized I had pretty much lost patience with the whole long hair thing entirely. So today, I am back to my usual short do (courtesy of @maria_does_hair23 who always knows what I like). When I picture myself, this is the length my hair always is. Plus, this length requires barely any attention, and I can pretty much step out of the shower, give it a vigorous toweling, run my fingers through it, and be done. My only regret is that I no longer have a use for all of those lovely barrettes I made myself. I'll stash them away until the next time I get a whim for growing my hair out, I guess. And if I never get that whim again, maybe some of my nieces would like some lightly used handcrafted barrettes 😁My other reason to be cheerful today is that I have gone down a pant size recently. I'm taking the slow-and-steady route to weight loss (after all, that's how I gained it), so it's nice to notice progress with a little victory like this! 👖Happy Thursday! What are your little victories and reasons to be cheerful?
I realized yesterday that I have barely taken any I realized yesterday that I have barely taken any photos in the last few weeks 🤨 So tonight I grabbed my DSLR, and took a walk through the neighborhood. My plan was to zoom way in on those blossoming trees and capture the little floral details. Only I was halfway down the block before I realized my camera's battery was actually dead 😵 Soooo, change of plans. Phone pictures, no little floral details, but still pretty in their own way 🤍
27 years ago, we chose April 1st to get married be 27 years ago, we chose April 1st to get married because there were no other family special occasions during the month of April. 8 years and 3 days later, we went and had an April baby. It's ok, though. He's a real keeper, and we don't mind sharing our month with him 💕Happy 19th birthday, Eamonn! 🥳
