Just as I was starting to feel like I didn’t give my children enough of an opportunity to burn off their little boy energy; just as I was realizing how much of my own childhood memories of play involved being outside; just as I was thinking that maybe I should get over my selfish dislike of being out in the cold so that they could run around, stretch those muscles, and work up a real appetite… Just as these thoughts were coming to the surface, Mother Nature gifted us with a 60-degree day.
New Jersey does not usually feel like this in the winter. Less than a week ago my teeth were chattering at the bus stop, the wind making it feel like -5 degrees, and today I unzipped my light jacket and sipped cool water on a park bench while my children played nearby.
Today there were monkey bars, bicycles, and meet-ups with friends who had the same idea. What a wonderful Winter surprise.
Gotta love a warm spell in January – we were at 65 here. ahhhhh

Oh, yeah, isn’t that kind of weather great in winter? Two days of it spoiled me, though. It was 50 degrees today and I was missing the earlier part of the week. And 50 is *still* great for January… And thanks – yes, they did have a great time!
