Hi there!
I hope you are doing well, and that it is not brutally hot or overly smokey from forest fires where you live. It's been a challenging summer for some, climate-wise, and I hope that you have not been among those struggling. As I write this, it's 81F (~27C) in New Jersey at only 10:00 in the morning, and the Air Quality Index is in the "moderate" level, but is expected to reach "unhealthy" levels this afternoon. I'm usually an open-windows girl, but I'm grateful to have air conditioning these days. I hope you are similarly comfortable ❤️

So, I am writing to let you know that I plan to increase my prices on most of my downloadable patterns, tutorials, and such at the beginning of August. I've been researching similar products, and find that I have had a tendency over the years to underprice my work. I have not made this decision lightly, but considering the value that the many of my tutorials provide, I think it's right to try to get the prices more in line with the market.
|
Any increases will be modest (probably just one or two dollars), but I wanted to let you, dear customers and friends, know about it first. If there's any pattern or tutorial that you have had your eye on, now would be a good time to go for it!
|
Note that prices are not changing on any handmade items at this time. This increase is just for the downloadables.

In other news, have you seen the latest handmade items to hit the shop? I haven't spent too much time at my clay desk in this heat, but I have made some rainbow stud earrings since my last newsletter, and there are only a few left.

On the blog, I've been chatting about my film photography pursuits, day trips I've been taking, and things I've been doing with polymer clay.

A few months ago I got a roll of Lomochrome Metropolis film, which is meant to result in muted tones with occasional pops of color. It's designed to be right at home in a city. So naturally, the first place I took it was to an old mill surrounded by trees and water. Read on to see if that went as well (or as poorly) as you might think it went.

This is the story of how I went from flipping through an artsy magazine on a weekend morning to laboring over two versions of a new cane design, and the questions that has inspired. Questions like: is this a nice design? Should it be a smaller scale? And should I make more in other colors?

That's it for me. I'll try not to let too much time go by before my next newsletter, but you know me. I'm not much of a newsletter writer!
