Porthole Pullover Knitting Pattern

$5.99

A relaxed sweater with a colorful yoke

Description

The Porthole Pullover’s colorful yoke is inspired by that of the Porthole Cardigan baby sweater and is deceptively simple to achieve. Through the use of self-striping yarn and strategically-placed slip stitches, even a beginner can knit this look.

This is a relaxed sweater. It’s a hang around the house on a chilly weekend kind of sweater. It’s meant to be roomy and comfortable, and that’s what you get if you work the pattern without any of the optional shaping. If, however, you like your knits to be more body-skimming, you’ll want to add the waist-shaping darts and work the fitted sleeve option.

Those comfortable with short rows will want to work the neck shaping, to bring the collar of the sweater up a bit in the back, and those who need a little extra room in the front will like the bust shaping option.
As you can see, the Porthole Pullover is a versatile top-down round-yoke sweater, simple enough for a beginner, but with enough options to keep a seasoned knitter happy.

There is a free tutorial for a short-sleeve variation here.
