Surface Designs

  • Blue Calico
The very first “fabric” design I ever made, Blue Calico was created to match a skirt I owned in the late 1990s. Though the skirt is long gone, I continue to use this pattern in my work. It was the starting point for the entire body of tile-able fabric-like designs that make up the current Polka Dot Cottage aesthetic.

  • Blue Strata
This design features irregular layers of all of the colors in the color scheme. It’s perfect for small items like stud earrings and thin channel bangle bracelets, but still has enough visual interest to be used in larger pieces. The Blue color scheme features navy, purple, and green, combined with white, black, and/or each other.

  • Campfire Jubliee
This design is exuberantly kaleidoscopic (learn to DIY it in polymer clay here). The Campfire color scheme features red, orange, and pearlescent purple, combined together and with bits of white and black. It was created specifically to coordinate with the Glazed Carrot, Archangel, and Holly Hock colorways of Malabrigo Rios yarn, when knit together into a scarf or shawl.

  • Cornflower Tortoise
The “tortoise cane” is a subtle pattern, reminiscent of the rings on a tortoise’s shell. The Cornflower color scheme features navy blue, olive green, and turquoise, combined together and with bits of white and black. It was created specifically to coordinate with the In the Navy, Northside, and Heart of the Ocean colorways of Shirsty Cat BFL DK yarn, when knit together into a scarf or shawl.

  • Cozy Strata
This design features irregular layers of all of the colors in this limited edition color scheme, which was originally inspired by an album cover, but on its own reminds me of a cozy crocheted blanket.

  • Lush Jubilee
This design is exuberantly kaleidoscopic (learn to DIY it in polymer clay here). The Lush color scheme features yellow, fuchsia, and pearlescent purple, combined with each other and with bits of white and black.

  • Pink Calico
The “calico cane” features a small scale pattern of tiny flowers. One of my earliest color schemes, Pink features red, maroon, and purple, combined with each other and with bits of white and black.

  • Plasmatic Jubilee

  • Violet Retro
The “retro cane” is common in polymer clay. You can learn more about it’s construction here. The Violet color scheme features blue, fuchsia, and purple, combined with each other and with bits of white and black. It was originally created in honor of the 2022 Pantone Color of the Year: Very Peri.
