TWiP: Eat, drink, and be knitty

This Week in Pictures, Week 9, 2022

I finished a sweater this week, among other things.

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples.

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).

Saturday

I finished the yoke of this little sweater two weeks ago, and have just been having the hardest time concentrating on the plain stockinette. But this is the weekend I finish it! I have declared it, and so it shall be 😁

Celebrating Aidan’s 22nd birthday at my in-laws’ house, where he is currently house-sitting 🙂

Monday

I have three soup mugs, one from a thrift shop, two that belonged to my grandparents, and none of them say “black bean and lentil soup” on them, which is what I tend to eat lately. This is false advertising 😁
A Porthole Pullover for my 6 year old niece 🙂. I improvised this a bit. I have an adult size pattern, and a cardigan version in baby/toddler sizes, but nothing for kids over 4. So, I used the adult pattern and just made on-the-fly adjustments based on the 6-8-year-old measurements in another pattern I’ve knit in the past. I have no idea if it will fit her – I’m a terrible judge of these things – but I hope if it’s off in any way that it’s too big instead of too small!

Wednesday

Meanwhile, the one I’m making for myself still has a ways to go, and I’m afraid I may be playing a game of yarn chicken when I get to the sleeves. Maybe I’ll order another hank of this wool just to be safe, but that is a whole other problem, because, can you really just buy ONE? Better to fill up a box and spread out those shipping charges, right? 🤔
Going down the street with my student driver, in my mother-in-law’s car, minding our own business, and somebody pulled out of their parking space as we were driving by. Not our fault, and nobody was hurt 🙏. But still, UGH!

Friday

Buckwheat tea. It kind of reminds me of sunflower butter, if sunflower butter was a clear liquid. I like it.

Thanks for helping me celebrate the week! If you want to see some of this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram ♥

  1. OMG! I love that! I have to admit that I couldn’t put anything together that has to do with what you wear. Match, yeah… pick things out…yeah but actually make them. Nope…not me…LOLOLOL I can make jewelry but don’t do that often. That’s about it and why I think it’s really great whenever I see something like that. That first picture is great too. I love soup bowls. It sounds odd but really I love them!

    1. It took me a while to get the confidence to knit a sweater, but once I did, it was hard to stop 😀 I love making my own clothes. It’s so cool to have something unique to wear every day!
