I’ve started knitting two more sweaters. Partially because I am crazy, and partially because it’s winter, and what better way is there to pass a chilly evening but with sticks and string, and a cozy mystery on the TV?
It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples.
There’s always laundry to be done, isn’t there? Also posted on InstagramVintage washing machine, still reliably chugging away 🤞🏻Got some yarn to wind. Making two Porthole Pullovers.
Monday
I felt under the weather this morning, so I left my camera off for my Day Job’s weekly team meeting. I did some knitting while I attended. I can easily knit and pay attention in a meeting at the same time, but I don’t think people realize that, and it may look rude. So, I won’t do it if the camera is on.Here is the last of the Flax sweaters and the last of this notoriously hard-to-photograph yarn. I knew I was buying a little extra, but I didn’t realize I’d have enough of it to knit a Flax for me, and then one for each of my two smallest nieces! This one is for 4.5-year-old E. And like the other two, it doesn’t follow the Flax pattern exactly. I left out the garter stitch panel in the arms, and for this one I added hot pink to the yoke instead of the cuffs. It was probably a good thing, otherwise I might have been playing yarn chicken on the last sleeve. I’ll give this (and the others in this series) it’s own post soon! Also posted on Instagram

Good mail day! Taproot magazine, Conscious Ink temporary tattoos, and some new me-designed mugs for my collection!

I’ve been wanting to knit myself a new Porthole Pullover in colors like these for some time. I finally got started last weekend. Yay! While I’m at it, I’m improvising one in a six-year-old size for another niece (for those keeping score, that’s 3 niece sweaters so far this year 😁 ) I think the three-to-six crowd is in a sweet spot for gift knitting. The kids are small enough that knitting for them is relatively fast and the yarn is not too expensive, plus they’re super enthusiastic about having a sweater made just for them 😍 The older they get, though, the harder and more expensive the knits become, and the more indifferent the recipients may be 😁 I will *happily* knit a sweater for my older niece and nephews, but only if they specifically ask me to 🙂 P.S. if you are looking to get started with color work yokes, it doesn’t get much easier than this. The pattern (and all of the details) is available in the shop. Also posted on Instagram
