I think it has become fairly obvious to regular readers of this blog that I can’t seem to force myself to get here on time on Saturday mornings anymore. And that often I am a week (or more!) behind with these updates. So, it should come as a pleasant surprise to find this TWiP post appearing on Saturday morning, as it is meant to.
I could credit the start of a fresh new year for my newfound punctuality, but I think it’s more likely that I am simply happy with my photos this week and looking forward to sharing them. I’m not sure what that says about the quality of previous weeks’ photos, but there you have it.
The truth is, I have felt that I’m in a bit of a rut lately with the picture-taking. Quick phone snaps have been common. But this week I’ve made an effort to use the Canon wherever possible. What I lose in convenience, I more than make up for in quality, I think. It’s not that my phone doesn’t take lovely pictures. In fact, my 4-year-old Samsung phone is orders of magnitude better than the camera I was using when I started this blog. But there’s something about a DSLR photo that just feels better. It probably has something to do with the shallow depth of field that can be achieved so easily, but I think there’s probably more to it that is just difficult to pinpoint.
Whatever it is, I enjoyed playing with it this week.
So, what is This Week in Pictures?
It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples.
Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).
