TWiP: Time in Nature

This Week in Pictures, Week 44, 2021

I got my COVID booster on Friday. I’ve heard varying reports about side effects for round three, but for me, it was the same as dose #2, but less intense. Essentially, I had a fever and chills a sore injection spot and my lymph nodes under my arm were enlarged and tender. But, the fever was not as high, nor did it last as long. So, that’s nice. The jury is still out on the under arm tenderness. Last time that went on for at least 4 or 5 days. Today it’s really sore, and I can’t let my arm fall to my side without it hurting. Hopefully that will be better in a few days 🤞🏻

Honestly, I welcome the chance to just sit around and do nothing guilt free for a while, and let my body do what it needs to do, so I don’t consider a weekend day with a fever to be problematic. It beats catching COVID.

I’ve watched a lot of TV today. A LOT of TV.

As far as the pre-vaccination portion of this week went, it was good: a family party, some time out in nature, wearing a project fresh off the needles, and a chicken dish in the skillet.

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples. It’s more laid back than the Project 365s of previous years. You can learn more here 🙂

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).

Here’s a very short video, featuring 1.5-second moments from the week:

Saturday

The Birthday Princess turns 3

Monday

I can’t believe it has taken me until November to set foot in the Swamp this year. Luckily there were still some pretty colors to capture.

Tuesday

I made a thing. It is based on the #gansweatervest pattern by #ailbíonamclochlainn, but I elongated it and added some colorwork. I’ve actually made two of these, and this is the second one. The first was for my mom and looked quite different in terms of colors and colorwork pattern.

Mine has this green stripey section across the upper portion, and I gave it some fuzziness there with a strand of kidsilk haze. This pattern is hugely customizable, and the two vests I made look nothing like the original, or like each other 😁

Wednesday

I’ve had company at my desk all afternoon. When he’s not wandering around my keyboard, he’s scaling my mouse.
It’s a lovely day for a walk through the park.
I stopped being the family cook five years ago, but lately I’ve had the urge to take back the kitchen. Not permanently, mind you. Just once in a while 🙂 Last week I made soup. Tonight I made Chicken Au Poivre. Both were a nice change of pace. I wonder what I should cook next week 🤔

Funny story: this didn’t quite go as planned… the pan caught fire shortly after this photo, but it put itself out right away, and the chicken was none the worse for it 😀

Friday

Frosty morning
I got my COVID booster today. I went to a Walgreens a few miles away from my usual one, so I could get an earlier appointment, but I kind of wish I had just waited a week and stayed local. This place really made me miss the efficiency of the county vaccine center I went to for my two first shots. This Walgreens location had a long wait, and the few chairs they had were right on top of each other, so if you wanted to sit, you could forget about social distancing. (My local Walgreens has nice spread out seating. *sigh*) Anyway, I stood for most of my wait.

Thanks for helping me celebrate the week! If you want to see some of this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Instagram ♥
