I don’t know how the time manages to pass so quickly, but it always does. It’s August already. I feel like the summer just started, and yet we’re only a few short weeks away from pumpkin latte season. I’m starting to feel a little desperate to make sure I’ve availed myself of enough summer joy before it disappears. This happens every August. Usually I am cured by an after-work trip to the beach, but I’m hesitant to go there this year, with Covid rearing it’s contagious head. Maybe I’ll just fill a bucket with water and sit in the back yard, dipping my feet, and flipping lazily through a magazine. That’s kinda the same, isn’t it?
It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Some of these images are posted on Instagram, but many aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples. It’s more laid back than the Project 365s of previous years. You can learn more here 🙂
Here’s a very short video, featuring 1.5-second moments from the week. I like these clips. I made an effort to leave the house a few times:
Saturday
I am always surprised by the little hidden nooks of beauty around my hometown. I never saw any of this stuff when I was growing up. Or, if I did. it didn’t stick with me at all. This is the Hackensack River as seen from a dock at River Barge Park in Carlstadt, NJ. (I have to stop being so astonished when I see beautiful things in places like Carlstadt. I’m afraid my default attitude is not very fair to Carlstadt and its ilk 😬)This is not the best picture of bald eagles ever taken, but it’s the best picture I and my 250mm lens ever took 😁 Someday I have to either get closer, or get a longer lens, LOLThis sign is kind of fun.
Monday
Good thing I left my horse at home 😆
Tuesday
I have a perfectly good desk, but I have been working from the bed for the last few days. Sometimes that just feels like a more productive spot. I like the change of scenery.I went on a lunch time quest for zinnias at a couple of local farms. It appears I’m still a tiny bit too early in the season for that. Though it turns out that chickens standing in window boxes know no season.
Wednesday
I gave up on the brown cotton sweater. Two months I’ve been trying to force myself to knit on that project. I even unraveled it and started it over as a crochet pattern. But nope. Nothing could entice me to pick it up in the evenings. So, I shoved the brown cotton in a bag, ordered some minty green wool, and tonight I will cast on the Timber Cardigan by Shannon Cook (a design I’ve had my eye on for a few years) and with luck I will once again feel like a little knitting with my nighttime TV!
Thursday
I wish I had enough hands to knit and write documentation for the Day Job at the same time.
