TWiP: Feverish

This Week in Pictures, Week 11, 2021

A year ago this week, my office had just decided it would be prudent to work from home for a little while. A few of us took guesses for how long it would be. I remember one coworker suggesting it could last until the end of May, and thinking he was crazy. No way this would last that long!

But, it did. And then some. This working from home, socially distant, masked up world has been in place for over a year now. And it some ways, it has started to feel normal. In fact, I have no desire yet to eat inside a restaurant or shop in a mall, and frankly if I have to work from home forever, it would not be a bad thing. Maybe indoor togetherness will come back soon, but for now I just feel a lot better keeping my distance and socializing outside. I’m actually mostly content living this way. And I think I will continue to be content until I am ready to have a big party or go on vacation or some other thing that is a bit tricky at the moment. So far, though, it’s all ok.

I got my second dose of the vaccine this week, and I am grateful for science and all of the people who make vaccination possible. That second dose knocked me down with side effects for a couple of days, but it’s so worth it. I hope those of you who are having trouble making appointments have some luck soon! There are Facebook groups out there that are helping (try this one, if you’re in New Jersey), and there are websites like Dr. B that match up about-to-expire supply with people who can be ready at a moment’s notice to show up for a shot. If you haven’t been able to get an appointment, give one of these a try. And good luck!

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the little (and big!) moments I have captured all week. Most of these images are posted on Instagram, but others aren’t posted anywhere but here. Some days there may be no photos, and other days there may be multiples. It’s more laid back than the Project 365s of previous years. You can learn more here 🙂

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S9).

Here’s a very short video, featuring 1.5-second moments from the week:

Saturday

Well, the deed is done. Two more weeks until peak invincibility. Hear me roar!

Story for Saturday

These Instagram Story videos are making my site load very slowly, unfortunately, so I’ve decided to remove them from the page. You can click here if you’d like to view this one.

Monday

I spent all day yesterday in bed, dealing with the side effects of my second dose of the COVID vaccine. I’m still not 100% today, but I’ve moved on from saltines and water to chocolate and coffee, so I think I’m on the mend 😁

Wednesday

Irish Soda Bread for breakfast 💚

Thursday

Two days in a row now, I have closed my work laptop at quitting time, and immediately turned my attention to the other computer, and Polka Dot Cottage business. It’s not a very photogenic rabbit hole, and I probably should be getting more exercise than I am, but my brain won’t let me turn it’s attention elsewhere just yet.

Friday

Perk number 2467543 of working from home: the ability to take a couple of 10-minute breaks at the clay table and front steps respectively, in order to make a quick polymer clay / uv resin ring prototype to wear with your new #oxbowcardigan and your raggedy old manicure 💛
