TWiP: Falling behind

This week in Pictures, Week 22, 2020

I’ve backdated this post so it shows up in the right place, but the truth is, it’s nearly a full week late. I am finding that after a long day of Work Work sitting at my desk, it is hard to make my self sit there again for the Fun Work of editing photos, fussing with my website, writing blog posts and the like. So I save these things up until I have hours of things waiting for my attention.

I need a better system.

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the microblogging I’ve done on Flickr and Instagram all week. This includes photos I shot for Project 365 and any other extra images I may have posted.

Photos taken with πŸ“· (Canon EOS 80D) or πŸ“± (Samsung Galaxy S9).

Ready? Cast your mind back to Saturday last week…

Saturday

144/366
Enjoying a quiet morning, eating one of my birthday scones from yesterday, sipping coffee, and flipping through the latest issue of Taproot.

Day 23/31: Sign of the Times
I never go anywhere without a mask and hand sanitizer. There are latex gloves and alcohol wipes stashed in the center console, too.

Sunday

You can get some interesting things with curbside pickup these days. They’re like Fla-Vor-Ice for grown ups 😁

Day 24/31: Don’t Dull Your Sparkle
There’s not a lot of sparkly stuff in this house. Luckily, I had a driveway visitor today who brought some of her own 😍

Monday

We haven’t done any visiting for two months, but today we went to my Mom’s house for Memorial Day for a hot dog and some socially distanced cornhole. It was really nice to see everybody again.

Tuesday

My mini staycation is just about over. I had 5 days off, but tomorrow it’s back to work. Tonight, though, it’s mood lighting and Acorn TV.

Wednesday

Day 25/31: Mantle Pieces
We don’t have a mantle, or any single place where we keep special things. But we have a few nooks here and there, and one such nook is this end table in the living room, with a favorite picture of my parents, a photo of me, Neil, and the boys from a few years ago, a copper kettle that belonged to my grandparents, and a couple of dictionaries (one English, and one Spanish/English) that were my great-grandfather’s when he came over from Spain.

It was late this year, but we finally got the first peony of the season! I love these big poofy flowers.

Day 27/31: Artificial Light.
I love these colored light bulbs. My favorite is when they are purple, because the yellow fairly lights and candle flame really stand out then.

It may not be scientifically proven that you are more productive with a gigantic peony on your desk, but I can believe it to be true.

Friday

One of our front yard visitors.

I sewed a couple of shirts! Once upon a time this was the #beatrixpattern but years ago I made about a million tweaks: removed back button band, made a full bust adjustment, did a hollow chest adjustment, etc. And then a few years later, I got rid of the sleeves, making this pattern pretty different from how it started, but super customized to fit me. It’s become my go to sleeveless top pattern, and if it wasn’t for the fact that the process of sewing binding around the neck and sleeves is the most annoying thing ever, I would probably have a million of these in my closet. For now, though, I have four of this sleeves variety, including these two new ones πŸ’šπŸ’—
