TWiP: Interesting Times

This Week in Pictures, Week 12, 2020

I suppose you’re tired of hearing about the coronavirus by now. For my own sanity, I’m trying to place limits on the amount and type of coverage I consume. I’ve subscribed to coronavirus breaking news texts at NJ.com so I get important local information, and I listen to a five-minute NPR update every morning for a more global perspective. And that’s it. Ideally.

Of course, everyone is still talking about it anyway. And occasionally a really good article comes along and I just have to read it.

But mostly, I’m trying to enjoy the fact that I have to am getting to spend so much time at home right now. I’d like this experience to reinvigorate my photography projects, as they’ve been in somewhat of a rut. Spending so much time in an office environment over the last few years has taken away some of my artistic inspiration, and I’d like to regain some lost ground there.

I hope you are all hanging in there, staying healthy and keeping entertained!

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the microblogging I’ve done on Flickr and Instagram all week. This includes photos I shot for Project 365 and any other extra images I may have posted.

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S7).

Ready? Cast your mind back to Saturday last week…

Saturday

Years ago, one of my Dad’s coworkers made this caricature of him. Last week I had it made into a vinyl decal. My car used to be Dad’s car, and I like having him here in the passenger seat as I go about my travels. ♥

Sunday

I feel like baking this morning. But I suspect I’m just going to flip through these cookbooks until the feeling passes. Or until I find the perfect scone recipe 🙂

This morning it said “wash your hands” but I live with a teenager, so naturally now it says this 🤔🙄😂

Monday

Day Two of Working From Home got off to a great start when I knocked my coffee cup over. Luckily I had a pile of crochet doo-dads on my desk to sop up the spill. I washed them and now they’re laying out to dry. Happy Monday 😀

Tuesday

In the office, my five to ten minute breaks would involve a refill of my coffee cup and a trip to the restroom. But at home, I can pop outside, get some fresh air, and see what kinds of things are blooming in the yard. Spring feels earlier this year.

Wednesday

I was having trouble concentrating, so I took a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood. I saw four other families out and about. Looks like cabin fever may have already begun to set in for many people.

Thursday

These are interesting times. Everybody is working from home to avoid touching each other, spring is arriving weeks ahead of schedule, and The Indigo Girls are giving a free concert on my desk.

Friday

It was warm enough today to take my break on the front steps, brew a pourover and listen to the birds sing.

  1. Stay healthy and make lotsa stuff! The smell of baking in the House always makes me feel better.

    1. I made scones yesterday! They did not come out as planned, but they smelled good and they tasted fine, so I’ll call that a success 🙂 Sometime this week I hope to park myself at the clay table (after I’ve put in the required Day Job hours) and make a few colorful little trinkets. Hope all is well with you!

  2. Love your Dad’s decal! How special : )

    1. I love it, too. It makes me happy. I’ve been missing him a lot lately.

  3. I love the decal too. Take comfort knowing your Dad is in the passenger seat. I can’t wait to see your photos and what you’re going to make.

    1. Thanks, Joan 🙂 Stay healthy!
