TWiP: The Adventures of Socially Awkward Girl

This Week in Pictures, Week 8, 2020

Right now I am at Starbucks, sipping a grande blonde roast and nibbling on a warmed up butter croissant. The “Weekend Regulars” are here, very loudly discussing politics. They’re surprisingly liberal for a bunch of old white guys. I find them entertaining, but probably only because I agree with them…

While I have been sitting here, I’ve been periodically looking up from my Chromebook to see who has walked in the door. Only I’m constantly looking through my reading glasses, which means every face is a big blur. Just now somebody I know walked in, only I didn’t recognize her right away (because, blurry face), and I probably made eye contact with her through my glasses, but I’m not sure (because, blurry face). By the time I looked over my glasses to verify that she was who I thought she was, she had looked away. And now I feel super rude for not waving or, at the very least, smiling.

Oh, the joys of being socially awkward (and enough of a doofus to look at people through reading glasses)!

The one woman who occasionally joins the Weekend Regulars has arrived. She’s not as liberal as the men. It sounds like she’s been reading some sketchy stuff on the internet…

Ooh, the barista just came around with blueberry scone samples. I picked the right morning to be hanging out at Starbucks,

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the microblogging I’ve done on Flickr and Instagram all week. This includes photos I shot for Project 365 and any other extra images I may have posted.

Photos taken with 📷 (Canon EOS 80D) or 📱 (Samsung Galaxy S7).

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

Saturday

Yesterday: eight bracelets, seven rings, and two items in progress, all sanded, but not yet buffed. Plus (not shown) two new millefiori cane designs that, despite my best efforts, are the same hue when you squint and blur all the individual colors together, as most of my other canes are. Green. Everything always boils down to green! 💚
Today, I am going to attempt a completely different color direction. Want to take bets on how green it ends up being? 😂

These are all of the raw millefiori canes I’ve made so far this weekend. They’re probably not the last ones, either. I’ve been applying them to brass bracelets and rings mostly so far.

Sunday

My tablemates have accused me of being a show off 😁. (@artscidesigns and @eileen_cressmanreeder_ , you might want to keep scrolling, because here I go again 😜😂)
Yesterday: five pens, four badge reels, three bracelets, and a ring I’m keeping for myself 😁. All have been sanded, but they still need to be buffed up shiny, and the pens & badge reels need to be assembled.
Today, (my last full day here) I am thinking something in primary colors, and maybe some blues.

Ooh, now this is really turning out nice. Sometimes the colors look better together than I even imagined when I chose them.

Monday

Yesterday: six pairs of earrings, and five bracelets sanded, buffed, and ready to use, a badge reel in progress, and on the tile, two unbaked bracelets, an unbaked badge reel tile, and two pairs of unbaked earring tiles.
Today is my last day at #clayathon and I haven’t decided yet whether I have time to start anything new, or if I’m just going to finish the few in progress unbaked things I have left.

Well, my long weekend at the Clayathon is over, and I am home with a box of goodies. I plan to keep a few of these for myself, but the rest will go on my website very soon!

Wednesday

I’ve been working on my website every spare moment today, trying to get all of the things I made this weekend uploaded to the shop. This is one of my favorite things: a happy, colorful bangle bracelet.

Thursday

Candlelight, coffee, quiet music… I’m having a nice, relaxing evening.

For the first time in a week, I am having a completely unproductive night. I don’t hate it.
