Yep, I’m still cranking out Quiet Time playlists. I’ll probably keep doing it, too, for the foreseeable future. I just can’t seem to stop. I like to listen to them as I’m dozing off at night, and the more collections the better, because I like a little variety; even if that variety comes within a very strict set of parameters.
For a song to qualify for one of these playlists, I must like it, it must be mellow, and it must have essentially feel-good lyrics. There are exceptions here and there. Sometimes I really like a song so much that it doesn’t matter what the lyrics say. Mostly, though, they’re happy. Or neutral. Or unhappy in a wistful way that is still somehow feel-good.
Here’s a track listing, if you’re curious:
01: Yann Tiersen - Comptine d'un autre été, l'après-midi 02: Neko Case - Magpie To The Morning 03: Alessi's Ark - Wire 04: Indigo Girls - Mariner Moonlighting 05: Lewis Watson - into the wild 06: The Tree Ring - Mount Desert Island 07: Fruit Bats - Rainbow Sign 08: Chicago - Colour My World 09: Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop - One Way to Pray 10: Kings Of Convenience - Gold In The Air Of Summer 11: Toad the Wet Sprocket - Life is Beautiful 12: Joshua Radin - Brand New Day 13: The Decemberists - Red Right Ankle 14: Jesse Ruben - This Is Why I Need You 15: Laura Marling - Next Time 16: Enya - Marble Halls
