TWiP: Fewer Words

This Week in Pictures, Week 17, 2017

I’ve decided, starting this week, that my Project 365 theme of “words” is now going to be more of a suggestion than a hard-and-fast rule.

Then and Now

These days, instead of starting my day with crafty blogs, I wake up with the New York Times and have my morning coffee in front of three monitors and a screen full of PHP code.

TWiP: This and That

This Week in Pictures, Week 16, 2017

I knit a total of 8 rounds this week, and that was the extent of my creativity. I photographed some flowers, went to a school event, celebrated a holiday, had busy week at work…. Just a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

Our 15th long weekend in Ocean City has come to an Our 15th long weekend in Ocean City has come to an end. As usual, Neil and I easily could have talked ourselves into staying for the rest of the week. One of these years, we are going to have to do it. Maybe 16th time will be the charm 😁. Today was the first non-foggy morning we had. I could even see my shadow on my morning walk! We played some games at @jillysocnj Arcade (as has become our last day tradition), and I stopped in at @mancoandmanco for a slice of pizza before we hit the road. Wow, was it ever delicious! Why did it take me so long to stop in there? 🍕We're home now, and it's back to work tomorrow. *Sigh*#iloveocnj #oceancitynj #jerseyshore
Our last full day here started off even foggier th Our last full day here started off even foggier than the previous two, if you can believe it. But then the sun pushed through, and I rented a bike from @bobsgrilloceancity and broke my own mileage record (it was awesome and I am pooped). I finished a pack of instant film and added to my collection of sub par snapshots 😜. There were falcons on the boardwalk again this year, sitting nicely still for pictures when they weren't working to deter seagull aggression. And I had a delicious ice cream sandwich (coffee ice cream between two peanut butter cookies) - it was huge and a bit much for me to finish (though I did 🙊). Maybe @famouscookiecreamery will consider selling half sandwiches sometime, lol.P.S. pictures of me by @clarkesworld 📷#iloveocnj #oceancitynj #oceancityboardwalk #jerseyshore #lisadoesinstant

I've broken a personal record for number of steps, which is really impressive when you consider it rained all afternoon and I spent a few hours inside reading back issues of #taprootmagazine and watching #annikapbs 😁. My day has been bookended by trips down the boardwalk: alone in the morning for coffee @oceancitycoffee and with Neil in the evening for soft serve @kohrbrosocnj ☕🍦💗#iloveocnj #ocnj #oceancitynj #ocnjboardwalk #jerseyshore #oceancitycoffeecompany #kohrsbros

It's a nice little place, with more space than hotel room the four of us usually share when we're here 😁The next two pictures are from this morning on my walk to get coffee, and the rest are from a walk tonight with Neil. So much fog! 🌫️

Wanna see something cool? These little polymer cl Wanna see something cool? These little polymer clay doodads are NFC-enabled. Each of them can be programmed to do a specific task when held up to an unlocked phone. They can do stuff like this:- open a website address
- open an app
- sign you into a wifi networkI have one on my keychain that is programmed to open Polka Dot Cottage, so if somebody asks me where they can buy one of those colorful rings I'm wearing, I can tap the polymer tile to their unlocked phone and it will open lisaclarke.net in their browser.I have one in the car that I use to quickly open Spotify on my phone.I have one in the family room that friends and family can use to connect to my wifi network without typing in the long password.I'm still exploring this technology, as well as playing with ways to encase it in polymer and make it pretty. These prototypes make me happy. Even the pink one where the tip of the teardrop broke off. I just sanded it down and drilled a new hole. Weird shape, but good as new.I'm thinking about making tiles like these available in my shop. What do you think? Can you see yourself using a custom polymer clay bauble that lets you easily share your website to a friend's phone? Or share your Instagram profile with that kindred spirit who noticed you snapping photos in the park? So many possibilities! What would you like to be able to do with a tap?
