TWiP: Pink things

This Week in Pictures (TWiP) at Polka Dot Cottage

It was another good week, full of all of the simple pleasures that I like to enjoy at this time of year. The peonies are blooming, both sides of our family are having parties with relatives we don’t often see, the windows are flung open all day and night, the summer napkins are back in rotation, breakfast can once again be an outdoor affair…

I say it every year, but it bears repeating – late spring is awesome 😀

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the photos I shot for Project 365 (one image each day for all of 2016), plus some snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.

365 📷: 2016 149/365 – Between my snack, the two devices I’m charging, and the flowers I’m trying to enjoy, I may have put a few too many things on my nightstand this evening…

365 📷: 2016 150/366 – Happy 50th anniversary to Neil’s uncle and aunt! 🎉 [Taken at The Auld Shebeen Pub.]

365 📱: 2016 151/366 – I had such a nice time at my parents’ BBQ. I took a few candid group shots, and I would have loved to use one of them for my daily photo, but I couldn’t pick one where everyone in it would be happy to see it posted publicly 😀 Once again I learn that I really should get everyone’s attention before I start snapping pictures. At least I had this useable picture on my phone. The kids hopped in the pool during the party and got in their first swim of the season. [Taken at my parents’ house.]

365 📷: 2016 152/366 – My pasty white legs and I thought it was a lovely day for breakfasting on the front steps. Coffee and a brownie (and a handful of vitamins): breakfast of champions!

Wednesday

365 📷: 2016 153/366 – I’ve discovered I like iced tea and it only took me 45 years, LOL! It turns out, if I make it myself and sweeten it minimally (or not at all) then I like it! Yesterday I made a batch of Candy Cane Green Tea (a delicious seasonal tea from Trader Joe’s that I have stockpiled). Tonight I’m brewing a second batch of decaf Earl Gray. I like this one with a tiny splash of agave nectar.

365 📷: 2016 154/366 – I love instant gratification crochet. This little beanie took me at most 2 hours of work. I just need to pick a button for the center of the flower and attach it to the hat. I’m thinking something minty-colored or off white.

365 💻: 2016 155/366 – Aidan stayed late at school today so I went to pick him up. I ran out of things to do while I was waiting so I took a few pictures out the car window with my tablet. [Taken at Aidan’s school.]

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Flickr and/or Instagram.

I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!

  1. Oh, that little hat is precious!!! The flower just makes it…I bet the Candy Cane would make great iced tea 🙂

    1. It does 😊. I just made some vanilla red iced tea, but I think that’s one that is better hot. I’m having fun experimenting, though!
