I think that week off from Weekend Favorites was a good thing. I’m going to continue to just post whenever I have a nice selection of links and not worry about it on the other weeks.
This morning I am waking up a few hundred miles north of home. I hope to rouse the kids before it gets too late, visit a local coffee shop for some breakfast, and then hit the road to Cambridge and visit a favorite Massachusetts destination of mine: Gather Here. They have such a great fabric selection. Yarn, too! My goal for this trip is to pick out a yard of something adorable so I can make one of these for my niece.

Here are a few interesting things from around the web that grabbed me this week:
- How to Photograph Fireworks Displays – tips from Digital Photography School. It’s that time of year again! I love the challenge of photographing fireworks. I’ve gotten some pretty good shots in the past, too. But there are some truly exquisite and inspiring images out there that are worth trying to emulate.
- Enter Our July Photography Challenge and WIN! – a daily photo op from Craftsy. Ooh, this is right up my alley – the theme is color, with a different color every day! Check it out, and stretch your skills 🙂
- Crocheting with Plarn – a nifty use for plastic bags shared by Sustainable Baby Steps. This is a cool idea, and if I hadn’t just used up all of my plastic bags as packing materials for a few shipments, I’d make one myself!
- Digital Printing on Fabric: Pros, Cons + Who Is Making Digital Print Fabric Now – via Sew Mama Sew An interesting look at digitally printed fabric as compared to the traditional screen printed type.
- Introducing #crochetsummer2015! – from Kelbourne Woolens. Here’s a nice simple crochet along for the summer with barely any rules.
- Tie-dyed polymer canes – from Meg Newberg, via Polymer Clay Daily. Tie Dye is a look I tried to duplicate in polymer clay canes a while back, and I never had much success. Meg figured it out, though! When I get my clay out again, I’ll be taking a look at this tutorial for sure.
- Photo Coasters – a gift idea from Art Dolls by Du Buh Du Designs. I made a few sets of these several years ago, but I used some kind of gel medium that I forget now. These use nail polish remover! Pretty cool.
Have a happy Friday!!
