TWiP: Moving Up

This Week in Pictures at Polka Dot Cottage

Welcome to TWiP (read more about this series).

Oh, people, the rites of passage happening this week! Do you remember when I started this blog back in 2005? I didn’t talk much about family then. But they became a big part of the conversation here in 2007, and this is what my little boys (and their two older cousins) looked like that summer. They were in preschool and 1st grade that year.

This week Eamonn finished elementary school and moved up to middle school. He’ll be in 6th grade in September.

And Aidan? He’s an 8th-grade graduate now, and starting high school in the fall.

High school and middle school? Holy cow, man. Somebody slow this ride down!

(I won’t even tell you about the nephews – the younger one about to get his driving permit and the older one just graduating from high school. Nope. I won’t tell you about that.)

So much growing up and moving up around here these days. It’s crazy.

And, oh! hey! summer! It’s here at last!!!

Shall we look at some Instagram and Project 365 pictures from this week?

(FYI, my Project 365 this year has changing monthly themes. June is “details.”)

Saturday

365: Details 21/30 – Reading – I’m about halfway through with this book about Amazon.com and founder Jeff Bezos. It is simultaneously interesting and boring. I will probably bring it back to the library (whether or not I am finished) whenever my next reserved title comes in 🙂

Sunday

365: Details 22/30 – Strawberries – I am so glad to have made it to the farmers market before local strawberries are over for the season.

Monday

365: Details 23/30 – Stripey Cardigan – I’m finally starting to work on an idea I’ve had for a while. It’s a striped cardigan sweater for me. I’m using stash yarn and taking notes so that maybe, if it’s a success, I can write up a pattern.

Tuesday

365: Details 24/30 – Fuzzy lily parts – Or "stamens," as they like to be called.

Wednesday

365: Details 25/30 – Moving up – Aidan is graduating from 8th grade tonight. Yay, class of 2014!

Thursday

365: Details 26/30 – Aidan’s Pin

Friday

365: Details 27/30 – Cleaning – I love the smell of this stuff.

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! (There were more than usual, so I hope you don’t mind.) If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Flickr.

I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!

  1. How does the Meyers cleaner walk??

    1. I like it. I use it for countertops in the kitchen and bathroom and it’s good. It does get a bit streaky on glass, though.
