Ok, it’s not a baby blanket. It’s a vest. And I really, really like it. But that color! It’s one of my favorite colors, but I’m just not digging it in this context. I feel like I’m wearing a baby blanket on my back.
I only used this color because I had a cone of it in my stash and didn’t want to buy anything new. First chance I get, though? I’m dying it something dark and neutral.
I have no complaints about the pattern, though. It worked up in less than a week and took less than a cone of cheap cotton. I can see myself hooking up another one, maybe a bit longer in length. I had originally decided I wanted this to be mid-thigh length, but I changed my mind. I didn’t want to risk running out of yarn, since this stuff has been discontinued.
For the tie, I ignored the pattern’s instructions. In fact, I didn’t even read them so for all I know I followed them without even trying… I just chained for about 3 feet, and thread the resulting tie through the holes in the vest. It’s easily removable or adjustable, so I can change how I wear it at any time.
Details
Pattern: Mary Kate Vest by Kimberly K. McAlindin
Size: Medium (I purposely chose a size that I knew would not meet in the middle – I wanted negative ease on this)
Hook: L (8mm)
Yarn: Peaches and Creme in Baby Green
Modifications: I hooked a few extra rows in the body to give it more length.
Well, you did a lovely job…the pattern is adorable! Kinda see what you mean about the mint green…what color are you thinking of changing it to? It will be so cute 🙂
Thank you. I have a dark brown dye picked out, and I think I’ll go with that, once Real Life slows down a little bit 🙂
