Our unique lawn ornament

It is probably fairly well-known among my family and close friends that I do not take care of household projects in a manner that one would call “timely.”

Tasks tend to pile up around me, particularly those that require me to call in outside help. By way of example: we bought my van in 2006, and parked the 1989 Oldsmobile next to the garage until we could figure out what to do with it. Four years later, it was still there when our 1999 Pontiac joined it. Those cars sat there for another two years before I finally sold them to a junk dealer who came and towed them away last October.

So, yeah. Six years with junked cars in our driveway. Procrastinate much?

On a related note, do you remember when Hurricane Sandy did this last year?

Well, that tree became our lawn ornament for the next ten months.

Now, remember what I said about the cars in our driveway? And how long they sat there? Given that history, I think it’s a minor miracle that this happened in less than a year:

(Don’t see a video here? Watch it on YouTube. [It’s really short!]).

So this is our front yard now. Treeless.

It’s not as pretty as at once was, that’s for sure, but it sure is less scary in a wind storm! And, I actually got to check something off of that dreaded list before another year came and went.

A few unrelated tidbits:

I’ve been working hard on the Mod Floral Blanket eBook, and I’m making great progress. If I don’t finish it today, I bet I will finish it tomorrow! It will definitely be available before the end of the week, and I’ll announce it here when it is.

After I press “publish” on this post, I am going back to the clay table for the first time since June! I’m getting ready to open up custom ordering. It will be a very short custom season this year, so keep your eyes open for that announcement this week, too!
