Wife of a 45-year-old

Bam! week 33 - Chopped

Somebody had a birthday around here this week.  It wasn’t my birthday, but I got the urge to cut my hair in celebration anyway.  Six inches, gone.

I also got the urge to treat the birthday boy to a night out. I dropped the kids off at my in-laws’ house, booked us a nice hotel for crazy cheap via Priceline, and left Neil a note to meet me there when he got home from work.

Wood floors!

Cool decor

Open windows!

Hotel Indigo.  I loved the decor at this place.  It had wood floors, and windows that actually opened.

365 day 228 - Mongolian BBQ

We had Mongolian BBQ, which I’ve been wanting for, oh, twenty years or something like that.  There used to be an excellent high-end Mongolian BBQ place a few towns away from us, but it closed up roughly around the same time I was finally able to afford going there.  Such is life.  This other place I found was not as amazing as my memory, but good enough.  What it lacked in ambiance it made up for in price.

365 day 229 - Morning at the hotel

Morning at the hotel

The next morning, Neil left for work, and I enjoyed a few hours to read blogs on my tablet by myself before checkout.  And I enjoyed three cups of coffee.

I kind of wish I could wake up in a peaceful open-window hotel with a few hours to kill and my own pot of brewed coffee every morning…

    1. It was actually Neil’s own idea. He thought of it a few months ago and suggested I should surprise him with it sometime. And it worked – he was surprised!
