We lost my grandmother yesterday.
The kids stayed home from school today and this morning we were talking about Granny, what funerals are like, heaven, how Grandma (her daughter, my mother) must be feeling, how we are feeling… and we also spent some time sitting quietly together on my bed, propped up on pillows, reading to ourselves and just enjoying being together.
It’s a beautiful spring day with sunshine, breezes & flowers, and I discovered two teeny tiny buds on my peony plant this morning. I think grief is easier somehow in the spring, when you are surrounded by so much beauty and new life. Perhaps “easy” is not the word I’m looking for, because of course, this kind of thing is never easy. What I mean to say is that there is comfort in springtime.
And with that, here are my Picture Spring images for the week:
Day 23 – Project minded (planting the strawberries)
Day 24 – Love is in the air (a pair of little play houses)
Day 25 – Spring board (I tried to channel the spirit of an image I was inspired by, but I lacked the sunshine and flowering tree to pull it off and my efforts evolved into this instead)
Day 26 – Make a wish (none of my dandelions have gone to see yet, unfortunately)
Day 27 – the shape of things (a garlic flower)
Day 28 – Charmed, I’m sure (my beach quilt represents family time, togetherness, and the peace I feel by the ocean)
Day 29 – Gathering (as in, the little flowers and weeds are gathering at the base of the old tree)
I don’t expect to be around much for the next few days. Have a lovely weekend.
