I’ve had the main out-of-print Bleeker Street fabric, the flannel lining, the quilt batting and the fancy button set aside for this little project since last December, but then Christmas came, and my focus was needed elsewhere, and well, you know how that goes. I unearthed the little bundle of supplies again when I cleaned my room a few months ago, and it has been calling to me ever since.
The one change I made was to replace part of the floral fabric with solid green linen, as a way to make the button stand out more. I think it was a wise choice.
Isn’t this green linen just scrumptious?? It’s the same stuff I used for my camera strap, and it’s in very limited supply. I suspect I’ll be hording the last little bits for a long time.
Oh, wow, hundreds of leaves are fluttering down from the trees, drifting past my window right now, like big orange snowflakes… so pretty!
(Oops, total ADD moment there. Heh.) I based this cozy on the ones I made with the boys’ help last year, which were made with a pattern I traced from a Starbucks sleeve, and Erin’s instructions as a guide for putting it all together.
It came out exactly as I had planned when I originally made the pattern. The only problem? I don’t go out for coffee as much as I used to, now that I cold-brew at home, and my travel mugs are wider than your standard Starbucks cup – this cozy is a really tight fit. If I’d realized, I would have extended the pattern another half-inch or more.
Ah, well, hindsight, right? The way I see it, I can keep this cozy in my bag for those occasional cups I grab while on the town, and maybe whip up another – bigger – one for use with my travel mugs. Of course, just for today, I may need to run out to Starbucks and break this one in.

There is, but then there wouldn’t be any overlap in the cozy, and I really like the overlap. Anyway, they’re so easy to make, I just whipped up another one that’s a bit larger. I think I could probably stand to go bigger still, though!
This has been the nicest year for leaves! There are still trees full of beautiful yellows and oranges. Usually, in Montana, by this time everything is dull and gray, but this year the colors are awesome.
It’s been fabulous here, too! It’s nearly all gone at this point, but it has certainly been a spectacular ride.
